What would you do?

I just watched a primetime video on yahoo that showed teens beating up homeless people. This actually is happening alot. Primetime sent actors to play a homeless man and the teens. They wanted to see if anyone would intervene in the teens actions. One man did. Granted, the teens that were acting were nothing like the teens that actually did beat and kick homeless people. They had no weapons. Being a person that thinks people should help their fellow man, I would probably run in there and try to stop it. If I saw the teens had knives or guns or baseball bats, I probably would think twice about it. It depends on the situation, but still, I would like to think I would help. I would at the least call the Police. Knowing that help from the Police may not come in time to save the homeless person from being seriously injured, would you step up and try to stop them from hurting this person? Even if it meant risking injury to yourself? PEACE

hmm.. I'm only a small girl so I would probably be hesitant when it came to intervening. However I would definitely raise the alarm, call the police, use a stick or whatever to try to scare the attacker off if I felt safe doing so. It is really horrible to see people's reactions. One man helped this person out. How many walked on by? I understand that people want to mind their own business these days and stay out of trouble but I think these days more and more people aren't as willing to actually get in there an help. It's something that our society needs to bring back.

coffeeshot, the video I watched of the fake beating showed 3 people that yelled at the kids, but did not physically try to stop the beating. Two of them went and got the man that finaly intervened. In good concious, I don't understand how people can just walk on by when someone defenseless is being brutalized. PEACE

I am not sure how I would act. First, I would call police right away and say that those people are killing the man....it always helps... I am small 102 pounds, so I would probably try to find man with muscles for help...... Or maybe I would start using my Aikido skills in action... Maybe I would start taking pictures for records, so police can easy find those who attacked homeless.... I say probably, because it is easy to say, harder to act on time... Why poor and homeless are under attack anyway?

Pictures are good. I don't have a camera on my cell phone and I rarely just carry my digital with me. They are under attack because they are helpless and the teens are bored, looking for fun. It disgusts me what some teens do for fun these days! PEACE

I would blame parents. I saw kids playing all day with computer games...play elevates aggression...

I saw this tonight as well. I am the kind who would get involved. First of all in our state you can defend someone without being arrested. I would start wacking the snots and give them a taste of their own medicine. I have 3 sons all adults now and was raised to fight if need for the rights of others. I would call the police and I also carry a camera and would take photos of the bad kids. Then I would find me an equalizer, spray cologne or take the bat away or whatever. Kids are to rude and mean today and need to pay for thier crimes. Someday they will be old and it won't be so fun when it is there turn. I hate this sort of thing. I did see kids often pick on other kids at school once when I was in school I carried rocks in my purse, kids wanted to pick on me I hit them with my purse hard. They left me alone. Bullies are afraid of someone standing up to them. They back down.

Wow this is not cool. The worst thing is though. .that some guy made some DVD movies.. called Bum Fights.. and he became a millionaire from making bums eat trash.. and beat each other up. Now that is a sleezy way to make money.

That is disgusting! Preying on people that need money to make money. The bums probably got $50.00 each for doing this, if that much. PEACE

Just reading this makes me angry and sad all a once. I can hoestly say I more than likely would try to interven in any way I could to stop this kind of senseless violence. If the person had a weapon of course O wouldn't be so gung-ho to stop them physically and would try another way. It sadenns me so much to know that kids are brought up now days with such a disregard for human life. This is a great posting though.~D

Yeah, when I was a kid I never tried to hurt anyone intentionally. There were plenty of things that were fun to do, even without money. And, my parents always knew where I was all the time. Some parents are just too busy and do not pay much attention to their teens. It is a bad situation. PEACE

I do not know how people could do so much brutality to their fellow, I do not know what they are trying to prove to themselves. If ever I would witness a situation like that, I would call the Police, thinking that I'm just a small person so I might end up beaten as well.

I would always help, I have a very big mouth. When it comes to fight or flight instinct, I have a fight instinct. I am not a big girl but I don't stand for crap. I might get a beating but at least I would know I tried to help. How could anyone leave a helpless person like that. If more people did interven and help there fellow man then maybe the kids would think twice about doing something ridiculous like beating up helpless people.
