Do you like to go to bookstore to buy book, or you just borrow from library? Hmmm... I do prefer both! Heheh...
While you go to those places, you are looking for a particular book or just look around. But you're eyes attract to book that you're not actually need at that time. You take the book from the shelf or even ask the book seller to get it for you, because you are interested to see what book it is.
Tell me, what makes you attract to see book and read the synopsis........?
Is it because the color and design of its cover?
Is it usually hard cover? Or soft cover only?
Or because "sale tag" or "buy one take one"?

I like to buy books, because I like to share them around. I look at the covers, I read the blurbs, I will pick up certain writers when I find them. I get what ever I find, some writers I can't wait until the paperback comes out so I'll get the hardback.

Sometimes its the title of the book, sometimes reviews that I have read online and or sometimes I just browse amongst the sale items and read each one I pick up :)

Well, I'm not primarily a "library" person. I tend to buy books than to borrow them... which goes to my paper backs. But, when I only need it for like, a session, I would go to the library and borrow.
When I'm in the bookstore, I tend to look at the sets of books where my favorite genres are stored: mystery, suspense, thriller, fantasy and sci-fi. When I found the section, I'll go rummage for good books. When I say good books, it requires the cover of the book. I want to read a novel whose outer pages are good, as well as the inner pages. I consider the quality of the paper and the size of the font too. Sometimes, I find small font sizes really boring. I prefer thick books with medium font sizes than thin books with small font sizes. I enjoy reading books which has a good quality paper. I don't know--I just love the feel of the paper when I turn the page... it adds to the excitement of turning to the next page.
After that, I'll go see the synopsis. If it's too typical, then I'll dump it. When I found something original, then I'll grab it and pay for it no matter how much it costs. After I bought it, I'll store it in my own mini-library where there are dozen of books waiting to be read.
Well, I'm still reading "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" which is rather long but quite interesting. I'll go read "Bad Love" next... and the list goes on.
:)
And oh, buy one take one, sales and special offer interests me too. I'm such a gullible person. LOL

i think it will dependson different situation.say if i want a cartoon book, i will focus more on its cover see if it is colorful or not. If i want a academic book, i will focus more on its author and its context. If i am looking for a fashion book, i will check if there is a very famous star on the cover page.
But do not like to borrow book from the library coz there is a time limitation, you hv to rush and rush to finish the book and sometimes you will not enjoy much.

When you walk into a big book shop, it is just like a library but with a better environment. You are definitely noy going to buy the books. Therefore, you have a certain hunger to read or at least to scan as many books as possible while you are there. I know of people who waqlk into a bookshop and read a particular book. After they have read about ten pages or so, they place a mark where they stopped. The next day they are back and continue from where they stopped. Today, some shops have the habit of wrapping the books in plastic.

I prefer the library over the bookshop because 1. I don't have the cash to buy the books I'd like and 2. Storage will give me a major headache since I do not like to give away my books, they are my treasures.
Being in a public library, the first thing that I look for is the condition of the books, finding a totally new book is akin to finding buried treasure.

Also, I prefer both buy book and borrow from library. Sometimes I went into a bookshop for particular books. But most of the time, I just went into the shop and look around. I like the feeling to be arounded by books. I like hard cover books more, but a good design attrast me best.
