I have a lower back problem, 3 bulging disks, and was wondering if anyone in the myLot community tried magnets for relieve of back pain? Most of the time this back issue hurts my hip and not my back. I did have a series of epidurals a few months ago and pressure point injections. I saw an advertisement this morning on television for Bioflex Magnets but the doctor's that were interviewed had conflicting ideas about this therapy. I would appreciate any feedback anyone can give me. Thanks.

I have not, I am not too keen on the idea, I wonder` if they might cause other problems so I have avoided their usage. sorry. however, have you heard of negative heel shoes? the heel is lower than the two which forces your body into better posture and alignment and relieving pressure off of your back. www.footsmart.com has them from EARTH shoe brand. I wonder if medical insurance would help buying something like this.

I haven't heard of negative heel shoes. Thanks for sending the link. I wear New Balance running shoes. Podiatrist told me this particular shoe is great for standing. I wear them almost everyday. Thanks for responding.

I have tried every type of conventional AND unconventional therapy for back pain. I had three bulging discs and one that was leaking. You name it, I've tried it. The magnets didn't work for me except a little with the arthritis in my hips. You have to wear them pretty consistently and after a period of time, you might start to feel the effects. But this is based on my experience. I would average out more responses before deciding whether to buy or not

So you know back pain/hip pain firsthand. I really have nothing to lose by buying a magnet(s). I don't always have problems but when I do, I am a mess. Thanks so much for responding.

I can't speak for magnets and back pain but several years ago I was diagnosed with tendonitis in my hands/wrists - most of the time I wear a braclet on my right arm that has magnets in it. If I don't wear it I get horrid pains when I try to type too much or crochetting. I swear by the magnets for my hands at least.

I have never tried them but heard that magnets are supposed to help. I have arthritis and wear a magnet bracelet but don't know if that helps or not as most of my pain is in one finger and my knees. Hope you find something to help! sounds very painful!

The pain is tolerable right now. I still work and am on my feet while working. The pinched femoral nerve was a different story and that pain was horrible. Thanks for responding.

I have similar problems with my back. Magnets didn't work for me but they may for you. Muscle relaxers don't even help me. I try to live with it every day but sometimes when it gets bad I'll use those disposable heat pads that you can buy in the store. It lasts 8 hours and helps a lot. I know this is a little off subject but I heard on the radio about the stuff in curry, I think that it's called tamarack or something, well it relieves inflamation. I know my back is constantly swollen. Inflamation in the body can over a period of time, from what I've read, cause disease, cancers, and heart disease. Even though it won't take the pain away try to eat some foods with curry in it. As for the magnets, it won't hurt to try it but I think your best bet is some good physical therapy. Stand a against the wall with you back to it, hands behind you and thrust your hips forward, I know it seems funny but that is one thing they teach in therapy. By the way, if you can handle living with the pain, I wouldn't suggest surgery. I know too many people that have done this and their back is either the same or worse. If you come across anything that works let me know. I'd like to get rid of my daily back pain too.

Thanks so much for the new information about Curry. That's something I can try. I've been through physical therapy 3 different times and the last time was in the program for 3 months. I'm not always in alot of pain and nobody would ever know I have a back problem because there is no limp or leaning. Last summer I had a pinched femoral nerve with this problem. Oh that was horrible and it was obvious I was in pain. I don't take muscle relaxers or anything for pain since I can handle it. I work on my feet but not for longer now than 4 hours. I will have to try the disposable heating pad and see if that helps when it gets really bad, like this morning. I shoveled a foot of snow yesterday. Probably wasn't too wise..lol Thanks for the information. I will let you know if I find some incredible cure.
