My hubby never flushes the toilet. It makes me mad because I think it is disgusting. He keeps telling me it's because he wants to save money on the water bill, but I think it is just because he is too lazy to flush it. I hate it, to the point that I go after him a lot of the times, to flush it behind him.
So do you flush the toilet everytime you use it. Or do you leave it till, in his words,it needs to be flushed, after using it about 5 or 6 times? I mean he only doesn't flush it after he pees, not poops.

I thought OMG when I first started reading and I imagined poor you going in after he had left a big dump and the smell accumulating from it, relieved to hear that it's only wee, but even so, that can stink after a while. Do you have a meter then, is that why he is careful about wasting water? We don't have a water meter here so it makes no difference how much water we use or save we still get charged the same each bill.

It`s disgusting ... let him use toilet in McDonald ... he will save more money :)
And what about other things ? Food, clothes ? Is he messy in other situations ?
Try to switch his TV off when watching some movie or match he likes and tell him it`s because saving money and it`s enough to watch TV only once a week. And also what about bills for internet ? Are they necessary ?

if I use the toilet after hubby uses it, then I will flush, so it doesn't matter whether he flushes before I use it or not. It may save water but only a little because it only happens once in a while and I usually will tell him that I need to use the toilet right after he does so he won't flush. But yes we will flush after we poop, regardless any of us will use it after or not. We also close the toilet lid after using it, only because I don't want my pet drink from the toilet. I don't know if she ever does because I change her water regularly but being curious cat who knows what she does when we are asleep?

Hello chrislotz. Maybe he is right that some money can be saved if the toilet has been used for five or six times. But each time my family use the toilet, we flush it right away to get rid of the smell. I think that your husband does this out of his trying to help save water as well, which is a very good intention to protect the water resource. So please do not blame him. He is right somehow if we take the water resource into consideration. I need to learn from him. Thanks.

not flushing after pee is normal in a drought situation. I couldn't do it. Save money on water
well that works if you are on a meter. But I couldn't not flush after pee. It's just not nice. How about washing up water in a bucket or bottle?

Ewr! That is disgusting.
We always flush the toilet after using it even if it's just pee. Yeah, yeah, it can make our water bill shoot up, but we wouldn't want a stinky toilet, would we?
If your husband really wants to cut down on the water bill, then may I suggest that he flush the toilet with some water from a bucket instead. It's less the number of gallons that your water closet flushes out. If he still refuses to flush or wash it down, then I guess the only thing you can do is purchase one of those toilet tablets(?) (which you place in the water closet) that turns your toilet water blue and stinky free (to a certain extent, that is). :)

I think he uses the money as an excuse, that he is just too lazy to flush it. So there would be no way he would do it with a bucket of water, that would take even more work.

I always flush the toilet, I think it's disgusting too...
Besides, I live in an appartment building, so the water bill is not according to the amount of water we use, it's just an estimate according to the size of the appartment.

Yeap, we do. It's just that there are no water meters for appartments (and some old house don't havethem either) so they make some magic calculation according to the size of your house/appartment and charge you every month the same amount.
Thay assume that bigger houses have more people in it, and cleaning it also demands more water, bla bla bla.

Some people will do anything to save a few cents...you'd probably be better off to switch all of your lightbulbs out to the florescent or led kind. We had our toilet in our basement running a few days without realizing - I think our bill was only a few dollars more than normal that quarter...my mother in law does what your hubby does and it really drives me nuts when she visits!

OWW ... I'm glad none of my family members does that. but I know a girl (my boss' niece) who has this habit too. but the reason is because she is just feeling disgusted by the flush button itself. strange, isn't it? nobody didn't scold her when she did it, even the maid got mad at her. but she just keeps doing it, no matter how her parents scold her everytimes. *shrug*
I think we can keep any bucket with water if we really want to save the water. flushing the toilet may take more water, perhaps reserve the water first into any bucket and use the water from the bucket itself will save more water rather than flushing it directly. at least that's how some of us (in my country) do.

Lol, I was surprised actually for the first couple of sentence as I thought your husband doesn't also flush the toilet when he poops! If he does that would really be disgusting... haha. But as you said he only does it in pees and I think it's just ok as long as it isn't left too long. Just like your husband, I also tend to think about saving water as someone might be using it just 30 mins later...

I've seen some people do that. They just keep the toilet closed so that it doesn;t smell bad... I know that water is very important and might soon run out (or at least be more difficult to get access to) but come on... Not flushing the toilet?? Does he take shower at all :) lol (Just joking I'm sure he does...)
