Have you ever given to a charity, and then wondered if the help you gave ever got to those REALLY in need? I have, and way too many times.
So I started my own charity, and call it 'In HIS NAME With HIS LOVE". Now I wonder no more!
I take donations right to the people on the street, and in the shelters. I no longer give to agencies!
I run two apartment complexes, and am amazed at all the useful items people leave behind when moving. Clothing, blankets, furniture, food stuff, dishes, pots and pans, toys and books, etc.
There are even paramedics and police officers taking my donated toys and such to give to those kids they must deal with in their lines of work.
I'm making a difference in others lives, and in a way anyone can lend a helping hand to those in need. And I started with the things in my own home that I didn't use. Everyone has clothes they don't wear no more, un-used blankets in the closet, un-used dishes in the cabinets.
It cost nothing to give these items to someone in need...
What do YOU have that can help someone else???

Yes I have given. And yes i have wondered. That is why I went to work or one. You have a wonderful plan. Good for you. Helping others does good for our souls. I currently schedule pick-up to residences for charitable donations. Seems like you are on the right path.

I am situated in Lakewood, Washington, near Tacoma and Seattle.
Eleven years ago, I became an apartment manager over a 40 unit complex in a bad area. We did a lot of evictions, and many left behind everything they owned.
At first, we threw it all away. Then, I started saving the best things, and donating them to charities like Goodwill, The Salvation Army, The Red Cross, etc. Came in handy at tax time.
Then my husband's mom started hitting yard sales, and thrift stores, buying toys and stuffed animals to give away. She lives in Bremerton, Washington, and people wouldn't accept these gifts from her heart.
So, being a kid lover myself, I took several of her bags of stuffed animals, and gave them to my tenants children for every occassion. The last 2 years trick or treaters have received toys and stuffed animals, and to my surprise, it went over REAL BIG!
But mom had SO MANY BAGS!!! She had a whole bedroom in her house filled with stuffed animals, baby dolls, and many different toys.
So, I added clothes I had saved from all the units i had cleaned, along with more toys, blankets, canned and packaged foods, furniture, etc.,and started my own charity with all of it.
To my surprise, it went over much bigger than I ever dreamed. I got in touch with my local shelters, welfare offices, and talked to some of the people who live on our streets which are many I'm afraid.
Word of mouth spread, and now people drop off things at my home for me to take where it's needed.
I work with a delightful lady I met at one of the shelters. She is about 60 years old, and walks our dangerous streets to hand out gloves, coats and blankets to the homeless, as well as volenteers her time at the shelter as cook and organizer. She also gave me the idea to get paramedics, police, and social workers involved. They meet a lot of the needy in their jobs every day.
Hope this helps you get started.
if anyone has anymore idea's for me, I'm listening!

Good for you! I'm glad someone cares about others, especially people on this country. I remember during 9/11 and red cross got so many donations. So much of that money went over seas and not to the 9/11 victims. Could you send me more info on your charity, like where you are located and how to start up. There isn't even a place to bring used clothing around where I live. A lot of people just throw them out because of this reason.
