University Education. Should parents be very involved

I am in university and i ask myself do parents really care how their kids perform. Young Students in their early 20's apparently they have no idea what they want in life. They come to classes late, never hand in assignments or if they do they copied it from their friends, they are on campus but never attend classes... Copy in exams ...... Then they have all the latest gadgets (IPODS, CELL PHONES) and they seem never be able to part with. Is the education sistem making students lazy or has it always been this way. I would like to know...............
