Why are we afraid?

Why Are Humans afraid? You think after thousands of years of eveloution humans would lose are greatest weakness. I mean a phobia here like aracnophobia not being frightend by a hand coming out at you. Me personally I think that fears are pointless so i am just not afraid. Not even death. If somthing as inevitable as death is out there why should u be afraid of it. Plese awnser me.
