I didn't see any topics about archery, so I made one.
Does anyone like archery? Does anyone play it? I tried it for the first time last Spring and I loved it! I want to get my own set one day! I think it'll be fun to play competitively.
Let's discuss this! Share your experiences if you do play for fun or professionally. Or just talk about how much you like to watch the sport.

Heh, I never thought of "playing" archery. I suppose I'm so caught up in the ancient warfare stuff that I think of it more seriously than that. Also, I used to bow-hunt when I was younger, so that affects my opinion as well. I have done plenty of target practice that I suppose you could call "playing archery" and I enjoy that very much. :P

Oh yeah I believe in hunting if you eat it. But I would never do it myself. I agree with the natural feeling of archery. It feels like it connects with nature. And I, too, feel like I connect with my ancestors. They were archers in England and France.

I love archery! I just picked it up after a long break. I shoot two different compound bows(Matthews and Bowtech). I belong to an outdoor range club, so I can go out on a nice day and practice shooting. The range also has 3D targets. I have gone hunting and I do eat everything I shoot. I like target shooting better. I have become involved with bowfishing. We shoot carp and take the fish to a wildlife sanctuary for the bears that live there. I know carp is enjoyed as a meal, but the carp in our lakes are not what I would eat, too slimy.

Hey there fellow archer. I have now been shooting for 5 years. I am a Hoyt man myself. I am not into hunting myself, just the targets, but we are a bowhunting club with in the Australia Bowhunters Association, so all our targets are animal based.
Here is our club website which I built. http://pacificbowmen.ning.com/

WooHoo, I was surprised to see Archery here as it is a pretty low key sport!
I have been competing in Field Archery for 4 years now and I am the secretary of our club in Australia! Our style of Field Archery is based on bowhunting but I do not hunt myself. I could not do it!!!
I love being in nature amongst the trees and shooting, it is a really relaxing sport that way!
I shoot a Hoyt Compound Bow and shoot barebow with no sights or aids! My greatest success in cometition so far was winning a Gold Medal in my division at the National Titles last year! I am going to the State Titles in a few weeks time, so hopefully I can do well there!

I'm an archer at University and I have been shooting for three years now. I have my own recurve bow and I shoot for my University regularly. It's a great sport that teaches you brillant mental focus, strengthens muscles you never knew you had and at the same time can be amazingly relaxing.
