What started you on the pagan path?

I started out on paganism when I picked up a book called The Druids by Peter Berresford Ellis. The only reason why I did so was because I'm a big fan of the comic series The Adventures of Asterix, and that the book was in the bargain bin XD
But one thing lead to the next, and at a time when pagan books were not even heard of in my country, the internet provided me with a lot of starting material. Today, even though I have never finished reading the book (it's just too boring...), I'm still glad that I paid five bucks for that book
And what is your story, if you don't mind sharing :)

As a child I had recurring dreams that showed me as a witch. I also could hear and speak with spirits. However, growing up I was taught such things were bad. It wasn't till I was grown that I began researching. I actually had two people try to lead me into doing dark magick. I refused. It was some time later that I began studying the Native American culture and Wicca. The compassion they both share for the planet and one another was a big draw. The communication with animals and spirit ancestors was yet another. It was by showing my husband the similarities that he finally stopped panicking. He is of Native American heritage. I began reading books, looking online, and joining groups. At this point I am working on my Third Degree, am an elder at an online college, and have submitted a manuscript for beginners of the path. Books helped, but people with like minds was a bigger help. Spending time on my own working with stones, essential oils, and actually doing magickal works helped me to learn my own values, what works, and what does not. I also am a Reiki Master, study Ascension and Ascended Masters, and do other forms of alternative therapy. I admit, what I thought I would be doing and what I am doing, well, they are far different. I am blessed.

Hehe, I wish my family was as understanding as your husband (atheist parents, Christian sibling... go figure), sounds like your path is an interesting one too! :)

Interesting is a good word, lol. I never know what I am going to run into next. I do a lot of energy work, even with spirits. Most of the time that is a good thing but there are some nasty little creature out there too. I enjoy the learning. I am ecclectic as I said, I love Native American traditions, Celtic first nation is what I am currently studying under to obtain my third degree. I adore dragons, work with stones, herbs, essential oils and other world beings. I have good days and bad days like anyone else, but my heart smiles most of the time.
There are people that will never understand. Most choose not to. That would question all they have ever believed to be truth.

For me, well, I grew up in the Christian beliefs, but over the past few years, they just did not sit right with me. I was finding so many holes and flaws that I just stopped believing. Then a few months ago, I stumbled across a couple of websites, and started reading. Now I am reading and studying all that I can. The path that I am on now, makes sense. It amazes me everyday, the different things that I am learning.

For me I have always felt that there was more to witchcraft than what the school text books told us. I never really looked to learn it untill I met my bestfriend online in a Pogo game chat. He has been mentoring me ever since. He now lives with me and is starting a coven in my home town which I am Priestess of now.

Wow, that's great magikrose :) Most of pagan knowledge is self-taught, save some of my basics. It must have been great to be mentored :)

I had a lot of mystical beliefs when I was a kid but I was always told that I really didn't believe in those things because those things would send me to hell. I believed in witches and what not. I somehow stumbled upon a wiccan teen book and ended up finding it at the bookstore. I bought it and read it and started to practice. I just continued buying books and finding information online and that started me on finding a lot more information online. The pagan path struck a better chord with me than any christian path did.

Well, they were right. An after-life where you rest, pay up or get rewarded for the things you did in life, and come back for another round? That has to be hell to them isn't it? ;)

I was helping this guys daughter. I was dating him and she was doing a report for one of her classes on religion. I started reading about Wicca/Paganism and instantly felt as if I belonged somewhere finally. I started buying books and joined online groups. Then I started to go to local events in the state I live in. www.witchvox.com can give you a list of local stores, groups, and anyone signed up with witchvox in your state. I never have regreted becoming a witch. I feel more at ease and can be myself. I am an ordained clergy plus I attend witchschool.com and tarotcollege.com as lifetime members. I feel you can never be over educated on things and love the people I have met in person and online.
