I heard last night on the news that a new virus is being sent out this weekend. It stated that the virus is sent out in the form of an INVITATION, or a POSTCARD and that it uses names from your contact lists, so that it seems a friend or relative has sent you and invitation or postcard. The news said that once opened it immediately starts to burn your hard drive up. It said do not open any emails you get that says invitation or postcard even if it has a friend or relatives name on it. Please be careful and don't get caught in this.

Once opened, it starts to burn your hard drive? I doubt any viruses can do such a thing...It sound more like a hoax for a chain email, asking you to pass on to other people you know. Nevertheless, such news about virus sent out in a form of e-invite or e-postcard is not new at all...The most important thing to note is not to open unfamiliar attachment and also update the anti-virus program regularly...That way, no virus will ever be able to infect your system no matter how "powerful" they sound to be

I was only trying to relay what was broadcast over our local tv station, maybe they got the wording wrong when they said burn your hard drive I was only trying to relay something I thought was important, but apparently from the first 3 replies to this discussion they feel i am behind time, it was on local news last night. I will remember to keep imfo that I get to my self from now on and everyone can fend for them selves.

Well, i heard a similar news very long back. We need to be really careful while using the internet. Always, make sure that you read mails only from known people. And if u feel that there could be something fishy, then its better you dont open such mails. Thank you for the info. Will keep this in mind. Keep us updated on such issues. Thanks.

I received an email from a friend telling me about this virus also. She also sent a link to information on it in snopes. See the following link: http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp the article there verifies this information. be careful!!!
