Do you ever think you can do a much better job than your boss?

I work for a very small company, 3 office staff + owner. The company was recently sold to a new owner 9/07. Basically, the new owner knows NOTHING! He doesn't even want to take the time to learn the business. I think anyone of the "workers" could easily take over his position and do a much better job. Anyone else feel that their place of employment would be a much better place if you took over?

I think my boss is way better than me. Since she's working here for almost half of her life. But in technical things, I can say that i'm good.

Unfortunately that happens so much. Especially when you have a new owner. Lots of people will buy a business because they think it will be an easy investiment for them. They think it's easy cash flow, but it might not be a business where they have any background in. That is sad. I've been that situation time and time again. Sometimes managers will go quickly, so I don't worry about it, but if it's a new owner, they'll probably stick around for awhile. Good luck!

It's like my brother (who owns an auto parts store) says to his employees, "I'm willing to listen to any suggestion, but if you want to make the decisions, buy your own store."

i think my boss is pretty intelligent, he's a very smart guy. always alert and always know what he's doing and i could never top that. but the CEO of my company? haha. he's lousy, i wish someone else with better credibility would take over!

I have worked in many places where I would have been more capable than the person supervising me. In fact, when I was working at a grocery store, I kept asking for the position of floor supervisor but they turned me down because of my full-time work schedule. They would have considered it if I would have been able to get there earlier but that wasn't an option. I was often telling the floor supervisor how to do their job because I had observed the actions that they didn't know how to perform, but it didn't matter. All they cared about was being in charge.

They had the discussion on the radio yesterday morning...supposedly 73% of all people think they are smarter than their boss!
I have worked in a lot of places. Most of the time I had to train my managers how to do things.
Right now though I am my own boss...that is much better!
