How important is religion to human existance?

born in India to a Hindu family, I really dont see the point of having a religion in the first place. any sermons or blah blah I hear, seems absolutely bull-crap to me. If I had it my way, I would wipe the whole concept of religion from the world..its all so baseless! what do you have to say?
