Death of a Great Chief

This is truly a sad week for the Haida Nation. Last sunday Chief Skidgate was on his way out fishing, which is his livelyhood which he had been doing for decades. It was kind of rough and windy last Sunday. As he was pulling out, a couple of his friends were on the dock untying his boat. The pleaded with him not to go, it was a bit windy, he responded "I've fished in was worse weather than this", and preceeded to turn the boat around, in doing so he hit the breakwater, the boat went down immediately right in the harbour. The two deck hands managed to escape, but the Chief went down with his boat. He may have hit his head or had a heart attack, awaiting the results. On December 23, 2007, the Chief's wife passed away. She had been fighting cancer. How would one deal with the death of both parents, in such a close time period. Last weekend in our village, 4 of our boys had O.D.'d on Extacy, lucklily none of them died, but each was either hospitalized or medivacted out. 1 a.m. this morning my nephew worke me up, to tell me that his Uncle on his Dad's side was just found in his trailer. He had just got back from a medical procedure, for a simple operation. They will be examining him today to determine the outcome of his death. He was in his early to mid 50's. He was a great friend, like his herbal smokes, quit drinking for years. Anyway I just need to let this out thanks.
