Would you go without your jeans?

I don't own a pair of jeans and haven't for well over 15 years. However, I notice that older men and women (over 50) increasingly do. Do you think that there is an age where jeans are no longer appropriate, Or are you going to be buried in yours.

I've never thought about being to old to wear jeans. Maybe because I live in a small country town where jeans are everyday wear for everyone. I can't imagine the farmers around here wearing anything but jeans or bibs. funny to think about though.

I think that the US is much more of a jeans culture than we Brits. But I presume that even people in farming communities dress up sometimes.

Sure They dress up sometimes. But sometimes it is their dress jeans they wear. It's nice to get all dressed up once in awhile, I think it makes you feel good.

I am 29 and live in jeans. My husband is 26 and refuses to wear them altogether. My parents are in their sixties and wear jeans often, more so my Dad than my Mom. I think this has more to do with personality style more than age.

Quite possibly. Also jeans became popular fashion wear in the 60s and 70s. Essentially it is the continuation of that. MInd you, crimplene was fashionable too then, but I don't see that making a comeback. Thank heavens.

I think this is more due to jeans being readily available and other clothing options being a pain the butt to deal with. Personally, I don't wear skirts, dress etc. I think they look quite ridiculous.

Skirts and dresses are not really public options for me either! However, it's kind of shame that you should have written off a major chunk of the female wardrobe so young. What do you wear to weddings, summer parties, smart restaurants etc?

I never thought much about it but I can somewhat see your point. I think it would seem odd to see a typical 80 year old woman in a pair of jeans. But I also think that jeans on older people will become the norm as the generation that brought jeans from work pants to fashion items grows older and continues wearing what they are used to. I know polyester granny pants have never been a fashion item in my lifetime so I don't see myself throwing on a pair when I hit 50 or 60 and I imagine by then jeans will be commomplace among that age group and older...maybe the youngsters will have a different option and jeans will be the new 'granny pants' lol

Yes, I can understand that generational thing. My parents don't wear jeans, I never saw my grandmother in a pair of trousers and her mother never wore anything that didn't sweep the floor (as in floor length skirts or dresses)

Nope not in a million years LOL I live in jeans and have about maybe 10 LOL Even if I turned 80, I would still wear jeans - not sure if I would look good in them at that age, but hey, I would feel good wearing them LOL

Well assuming that your avatar isn't a life picture, I am sure that you look beautiful in whatever you wear, at any age.

I love my jeans and will alway's be wearing them, no matter what age I am.... I just bought two new pairs this week, LOL!! I don't feel that when you hit a certain age you should stop wearing, or doing certain things as long as it's respectful to yourself and other's.. I'll prob be 80 still wearing bootcuts and flip flops... http://www.diamondcreekcandles.com/c111

To me I can certainly understand the comfort of jeans. But to have "best" jeans is something of a contradiction. However, there is no sense in lacing yourself into corsets or whatever, just for fashion if you can be acceptable in good old denim.

I believe I have only ever met two non-jeans people (apart from grand parents!I don't remember my grand parents wearing jeans but don't know if they ever did. They wore those sort of cotton-y "granny" trousers. I'm sure they were comfy but I prefer jeans. I went to college with someone who didn't like wearing jeans and I thought that was strange, a 17 year old who didn't like wearing jeans?! My mum and dad still wear jeans. I think they are something which will never be in or out of fashion and they look ok on most people. I think the problem with some is the particular style they choose. I mean, I know someone who tries to wear hipsters with short tops and they really look bad because they have "rolls". It's great that they are confident and wear what they are comfortable in but I know I am not very thin (!) and therefore would not want to wear something that accentuates that fact!

I love jeans and I will probably always wear them, but I do not think that they will be appropriate for burial, LOL. I do not think that a person is ever too old for jeans.

That's interesting Rozie. You will always wear them but don't want to be buried in them. Surely if they are good for everyday wear on Earth, they must be good enough to meet our maker in?

I just turned 30 yesterday and decided that I will live and die in my Levis. I love jeans. I am a jeans and t shirt kinda girl and live in them. I can't go a day except surgeries, without my jeans on. I even jumped back into them for 3 out of 4 kids the day i left the hospital. I love them and never let them go!!

I prefer to wear jeans because I have to dress up 5 days a week for my job. I only about 17 pairs of jeans that fit and I have a whole tote of jeans in my attic that I either want to get into again or that I had to wear after having a baby. I wouldn't say I want to be buried in mine but I can certainly see myself keeping jeans in my wardrobe for many many more years to come.

I love to wear my jean and their should not be an age limit on wearing jeans because regardless of what some people wear there is something that someone else thinks do not look good on them. I love my Bill Blass Jeans.

I don't think age is a factor, some people look good in jeans others don't. I wear jeans most days because they are comfortable and I have to wear trousers as part of my work uniform so if not wearing jeans will go for a skirt, NOW I AM NOT SUGGESTING YOU WEAR A SKIRT, LOL. I don't think I'll be buried in mine though, when I feel the time to wear something different as I age I will. Ellie :D

No, I have never found a skirt that complimented my legs. Wore a silk dress once, but that's another story. But you do wear a skirt sometimes. So jeans are not your only option.

I love jeans. My favorite one, a Levi's 501, is actually the most basic fashion item I have. I combine it casual with t-shirt or classy, depending on the occasion, with a white blouse or a black pullover. The possibilities are unlimited... I love jeans.

I wear jeans and have for most of my life. I am 58 and still wear jeans and don't think anything about it. I don't think there is any specific age that is specified specifically designated for jeans or not. I think it is what ever the person feels comfortable in and it doesn't have any age specification. My husband who is 64 wears jeans all the time.

I have come to the conclusion that this is a cultural issue. Jeans are very much ingrained into the North American way of life. They are almost iconic. Over here there is no doubt that they are universally popular, but we don't, generally, look at them as smart wear. But we are catching up with you, and fast.
