Both girls done it when they were younger and now today even after having taken him to the barbers on Monday my 4 year old son has done it too. What is it with children and hair cutting, even the barbie dolls got it when the girls were little, I'll rectify in morning but why do they do it? I'm sure there are not many parents here that haven't experienced this. Please share your experiences so I don't feel like I am the only mother that doesn't watch there child enough for them to be able to achieve this act. Ellie :O

Oh no!!! LOL....my kids did not do it. I swear they didn't. But one time my daughter and her family were staying here for a week. They were busy in the kitchen when I got home from work and I was coming up here to change into something more comfortable and as I walked up the steps I found big chunks of blonde hair...from my granddaughter. She didn't cut her bangs but lifted her hair up from the back and cut off chunks..they had to get it cut that afternoon! LOL

You are lucky your own didn't do it but I have experienced all three of mine now, worse with the girls as they had to have hair short after each incident, my son has very short hair at the back anyway so I will just have to get the top cit to match now. He got the paper scissors from the art box, little monkey, these aren't sharp but they still managed to cut the hair! Ellie :D

itried not to laugh at my daughters response when she told me why she cut her hair-at one time my hair was really curly and she has inherited them-to this day she hates them and is always putting her hair up or straightening it!! my hair now for some reason has gone straight-i would love to have them back lol-littleowl

my little girl did that once what a mess and she had such pretty long hair but my son was just the opposite he used to bawl like a baby when we took him to get his hair cut as if it was actually hurting him; my own mom says I did that when I was six I do not remember but know I hated my long curls and my snarled hair that hurt when my mom combed it so guess I wanted to get rid of all that.so they cut it short. my son when he was little cut all the hair off my daughter's doll and the fringe off my towel. Iasked him why he had done that and he said it was coming all unraveled. he was only four. my computer genius nerd son

Hi Yes it does seem to be more of a girl thing but I think my son decided he wanted the top as short as the bottom of his hair but barber explained to me because he has a double crown he couldn't go shorter on top without it sticking up at weird angles but cut very short at back and sides, we now have spikey sticky up hair, LOL. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

Hello, there. I have got the same problem wih all my kids when they were toddlers. Dont worry, you are not the only one. Even my sister also complained that her 3 yr old likes to cut her hair. It got her mad every time cause she takes pride in her daughter's hair which is silky black and likes to put ribbons on it. My kids even enjoys cutting each other's hair, giggling as they do it. I guess you just have to warn them every time, put away all scissors and hope they will outgrow the habit. In the meanwhile, have patience.....

Yes it does seem to be that they all do it at some stage. I was mad as I had only just paid £6 at the barbers to get it done, probably where he got the idea from eh! At least with a boy you can get it cut really short, can unstand your sister with her daughter as my eldest when she done it had hair down to the bottom of her back and we had to have it cut shoulder length, she has never done it since and also still wears it long. Thank you so much for sharing. Ellie :D
