Loosing it...

I really hate when this happens. I just finished typing a response in a discussion and clicked on preview discussion and when the next screen opened my response was gone. Has this happened to you?
What mkes it so bad is that, as a newbee on MyLot, I can not copy and paste my response, because on other sites I usually write my message in notepad and then just copy and paste in on the site for this very situation. It is even more frustrating when I can't remember everything I said so I can type it again. I've tried clicking back to see if it was still there... no such luck. That has worked in the past.

It had happened alot to me before and still does happen up to now every now and then. It is indeed frustrating when I am so in the mood of typing, checking errors for grammar and then, when I think I could post it already, the next page would not display anything and when I do try to go back, its gone. Quite annoying and it leaves me irritated. I retype a more shorter response afterwards since the motivation already left at the first post ^_^;

As a matter of fact, it just happened to me today. I typed a response and sent it when the whole wite slowed down and the next screen said it couldn't find the page. So I backpaged and the response was completely gone. I had to retype the whole thing. I know what you mean about the copy/paste restriction. We both have a really long way to go for that feature to work. I find typos in my posts that I would have caught with spell check if I could have typed it out first and copied it (especially on long ones.) Then when I do miss them in edit (preview) mode I feel like a complete moron because I see them right away AFTER it posts. Darn!

The only time that has happened to me (and it just happened five minutes ago) is when I failed to realize I was not logged in. Sometimes the necessary rewrite is better than the first draft since I hone in on the important stuff I was going to say and leave off unnecessary prattle that I sometimes am prone to.
I have not had that happen when I was logged in properly.

It has happened like that also, when I was taken to the discussion page from my e-mail reminder even though I was not logged on. But it also happens after I've been on MyLot for awhile posting on other discussions. As for improving my response I am more prone to agree with the last responder and say my train of thought and my points of interest were lost.

Oh very infuriating - I know how you feel - been there; done that!
I got to the stage where I copied into Notepad first before posting as even though I couldn't copy and paste back, at least all the thinking had been done.
It is sooo much easier now that I am past the 100 posts mark and can copy and paste. Or is it 500 limit now? Can't remember.
Keep posting - you'll get there.

I know exactly how you feel! I didn't post to mylot yesterday as much because of it. After this happening to me three times I just said forget it. There was no way I was re-typing my responses back out. It just so happens that those ones were fairly long.
I don't usually type my responses out anywhere else for this site because it takes to long. I don't get a whole lot of time to spend here as it is.
Yesterday was very frustrating to me though.

Wow, if I could copy and paste I would certainly try to save all my long responses before sending them into cyber space and taking my chances with the intel gods. all you have to do is write it here as usual and copy it before sending it. Then at least if you loose it, its in your clipboard so you can repost it or paste it in your note pad or someplace else. I sometime paste it in an e-mail so I can get it spell checked before I send it. Even though I can't past it I still have it as a referrence.

Yes, it happened to me once so from that time on, I'd rather post it than losing some time and effort re-writing it again.
However, it's fun! You will really put an effort and it gave you good responses. It worth the re-doing.
Keep posting! Enjoy!

I think that there are so many people posting and answering post that when you finish one someone else has already done one or two while you were finishing that one. I have had that happen lots of times and i guess the ones that get seen are answered and the one that are not seen don't. This was the last one on the page at the time i was looking at new discussions.
