technology Good or Bad?

The advantages or disadvantages of technology depend solely on the use that people make of it. We have the choice of either using technology to our benefit or allowing it to govern and control our lives. I can fully relate to the concerns that you express because I believe that a simple calculator has already created a problem. Too many people nowadays never learn to use basic arithmetic because it is easier to tap the numbers into a calculator, which can be a real problem if they cannot recognise a false answer after mistyping the numbers.

If we let it get too far, yes, technology can become a bad thing and make us far too dependent. At this point in time I'd say technology is still an improvement to our lives. Although many have become recluses due to the expanded abilities online, so many others have become more socially aware and involved because of the internet. Including those who would normally be shy in a social situation. Online they can be free to express themselves without the feelings of insecurity. As long as we continue to use tech as tools and not crutches, we will be ok. But I do see us relying on our technology way too much. I don't like seeing things like "Pay by Touch" (your fingerprint scan is connected to your debit/credit account). Things like that are way too sci-fi. Any fan of sci-fi will tell you that becoming completely dependent on technology, or having every aspect of our lives on a world wide network is an invititation to armageddon. There should always be a human factor included in our interactions somewhere down the line. And we must especially remember that our technology is made by human hands and therefore is not infallible. If we start to perceive our tools as perfect, we will lose control on our lives.

I think that, as is the case with many things, technology can be a very good thing as well as a very bad thing, depending on who is using it and what they are using it for. Cell phones, surveillance cameras from ATM machines, GPS systems among other things have saved many lives and helped solve crimes, including murder cases. On the other hand, there are cyber stalkers and predators, such as those depicted on Dateline NBC's "To Catch a Predator" series, identity theft and other crimes committed that couldn't have happened without modern technology. Of course there are also the many less dramatic effects, some of which and positive others not so much. I think we do need to be careful that our young people don't become so dependent and even addicted to the internet and video games that they get too little physical exercise as well as too little social interaction in the "real" world. I think if more ppl lived by the saying "Everything in Moderation" they'd be alot happier. I don't think there is anything wrong with technology but your right in that some ppl take it too far and withdraw from the human race. I like that I can use my pc whenever I want but I also do other things. I probably don't get out as much as I should but that's more b/c I have to be home with my Hubby who's housebound. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

it all depends how u use it.technology is for good.but excessive of anything makes it bad.so can be said abt technology.use it as when required only.then it is the friend in need.use it all the time...it will definitely have adverse effect.like mobile phone...excessive use can cause health hazard...but for that can we reject mobile phone for ever?????no...we can't.

Watch Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. I just borrowed a copy of this movie from a friend and I liked it. It tells us how we are getting so much dependent from our technology. A perennial lesson indeed.

Dear friends The topic is very unique. Whether technology is good or bad or you can say science is a blessing or curse. One hand technology is essential for the country to compete the whole world with rapid expansion of tech. In our day to day life we are using about 90 per cent work with the help of technology right from motor cycling to other works. We are frequently using cell phone for conversation with some one who is well within one km away. Even some people are using robot in their house . Due to invention of tech peoples are being day-by-day become lazy and we do not want to work with labour. Out thinking is that if the work can do with the help of machine why should we put our extra efforts. Though scientist /researchers made this gadgets for the ehlp of mankind but excess is any thing bad. Earlier our fore fathers were living up to the age of 90 to 100 yrs but presently durability of life is very poor . We are suffering from various decease as we are not functioning our body properly. Human body is just like of machine if you do not put oil in your machine it will be rusted and jammed, like machine human body is also required some exercise like, walking, swiming, running. I think there is no end of such discussion as some body will talk in favour of technology and other will talk about its disadvantages. The right way is to think that how to use technology in your daily life. Now a days it has been observed that social life has been completed vanished and no body is interested to came out from their home due to various tv serial kinds are not playing in the filed and they always using video game and electronic gadget which will in long run will affect. pkc3000

Technology reduces the manmade work and it saves the time also. so its more advantageous according to me.. as i said before its time constraint. one shud use it aptly tats it.

For me technology is more on the bad side...first, people are more anti-social...they come out of the house with their friends or relatives physically but mentally their mind is set to another place they just go on and on texting or talking to someone using their cellphones or just playing with their psp's and ds'. Also because of technology people are getting lazy and overweight or less fit. And speaking of technology nature and our environment is getting abused..technology has more negative effects in nature than of those of the positive effects...specially when indurtialization took place....i can go on and on with other bad stuff with technology but at least the best thing with it is that i could be able to earn money out of it hahaha
