Is the tap water safe to drink?

Many people in US drinks tap water especially when they are out to town or doing their shopping. There are many water taps at stores and even parks which are located for people to drink. Actually is it really safe to drink the tap water? Will it cause any harm to our body?

I don't think tap water is safe. It's better to cook the water you consume unless you get those bottled mineral water.
