I certainly do know what time he comes. 10.30, which is early. The Post don't guarantee ay delivery before noon. I like to look through the mail, but I never open anything financial except my own savings accounts.. My wife looks after that side of things and she's welcome to it.

I don't blame you there, however, if it looks like its a check, my fingers don't hesitate to open the envelope.

Here in the UK we are very lucky as the postman comes directly to the door and pushes through the letterbox so we don't have to look out we hear when it arrives, but I call all the bills hate mail, flyers junkmail, then I have treatmail, which is when I receive freebie samples and other interesting bits and pieces. Ellie :D

Do you have any good sites that you can recommend for freebies?

As I am from UK they are limited to here but one whose UK version I use I do know has an american one www.zfreebies.com the subscribers themselves comment so you know whether to bother or not but this year so far I have received two comfort conditioner samples, DHC skin care samples, a new toothpaste and book from aquafresh, two books about being a Christian, Dove soap, ambi pur air freshner, hair dye and ground coffee, I am sure there are other bits and bobs too, oh yeah a couple of calendars and a set of six table coaters. Not bad really considering we only the beginning of march. last year I received massive Pantene shampoo and conditioner bottles and also a nivea body firming lotion, big bottle not sample sachet. Worth a try any way. If I think of anymore that are worldwide rather than just UK will PM you with them at a later stage. Ellie :D OOOh just remembered a huggies swim nappy and swim bag complete with lovely white towel but I went direct to huggies website for that one. Good luck. Ellie :D

I think our postman works as and when he feels like it, it's never delivered at the same time each day, so you can't rely on when it's about to arrive, we never get it early, so if you are expecting a letter you have to wait till about 10 in the morning, sometimes later, we have had the postman delivering at 1 in the afternoon and even later, so no you can't rely on him and yes I check the post every day, I still like getting things in the post, apart from bills, occasionally I get cheques and I'm still waiting to hear whether I've passed my medical or not!

I dont really bother too much about post I never get anything exciting! But my husband, now he is another matter, he will break his neck to get downstairs to the post if he hears it coming through the door! He will text me from work and ask if hes had any post, he loves it, all he gets is junk mail but he gets that excited. When hes off work he makes me laugh at how fast he will move to beat me to the post, he too knows the times of the postman, oh he makes me laugh!!

Our mailman comes at a different time every day. And unfortunately, we don't check it daily (unless we're expecting a check) because our driveway is about 1/2 mile long. I don't mind walking down in the summer, but in the winter the driveway is just too icy and slippery (and steep) In the winter we only check the mail about every other day when we're driving somewhere and we'll check as we return back home.

Having to walk 1/2 mile to your mailbox in the cold obviously would be a great deterrant, but if I have mail coming from my son, I would definitely make that trek too.

I love to get mail but not junk mail - that can be boring trying to open it all. Talking of which my mother must be the Queen of Junk Mail - I think the postman brings her a sack a week, it is unbelievable! But whilst I was working the emails were around 200 a day which never gave me any time to get to do anything else! I live in the Dominican Republic now and our mail doesn't get posted to our address, we have to have a PO Box in Florida and then the courier services charges us around $1 just to send it to the DR. Picking up one envelope isn't much fun especially when it is a bank statement (and even worse if is telling you that you are overdrawn!) Oh how I miss seeing the postman!

I hate to say it, but that so sucks. What a drag that would be. You getting the mail must be even more exciting than for us.

My husband and I try to check the mailbox on a daily basis, though sometimes we forget due to either of us thinking the other checked it. And if we had forgotten to check on a Saturday we will check it Sunday. I have no doubt people driving by in their cars thought I was nuts for doing so since mail isn't delivered on this day. LOL

I used to feel that way about the Sunday paper too, I hated it if someone else got to it before I did. Now I don't get it and actually don't miss it at all.

hi funny but I am the same way when my son usedd to get the mail I would feel really let down as I always wanted to get it. now due to my bad leg I have to let him do it but miss getting it myself so much. I usedto watch out my picture window and see the mailman and would be down there the moment he finished to get my mail.

I've always liked getting mail too. Is that a sign of a sad life or what? LOL ...
If I don't have to go to town for something, there have been periods where going to the mailbox was the only time I got out of the house for weeks at a time.
Now Tom goes out to the get the mail, so I don't even have that anymore!

I am obsessed with checking my mail. Or my email for that matter. The beauty of it is that you never know what you might get. Its like a present. The mail man aka "Santa" , puts something for you, in a box, and you have no idea what it is. I love it. I look forward to see what i get each day. But it can also be pretty sad if you have nothing.

Actually the time our mail comes varies each day, so a lot of times I have left by the time they come. Usually my husband is checking it every day, but we do go days sometimes without checking.

I, too, like to get mail and we know about the time the postal delivery should be made (if the carrier is not a substitute who takes the route differently) and we go to the mailbox within a half hour from that time. I do not know why we are so excited it is only junk or bills. but woooo oooo ooooo we sometimes argue about who is going to get down there to get it. lol, such an honor.

I am living in a condo unit so I don't get my mail delivered right to my door step, but rather it goes to the main house of the area. So I have to walk about 3 blocks to the main house, it's a big area here, to get my mail and since it is so cold outside I don't go get it very often. I maybe go only once a week and sometimes even not then. I don't like getting my mail because all I get is bills anyways and most of them are paid automatically out of my bank account so they aren't important to me. So no, I don't check my mail everyday like you do, and I have no desire to.

Hi kbourgerie! I love to get mails as well. I however don't know what time he comes during the day but I know it's in the morning. We do check our mail everyday and it's a delight to find that you have one or two in the morning even if it's only a junk mail.

Wow, I'm impressed. This is a really old discussion. Yes, I'm pretty disappointed when I don't find something in my mailbox.
