I have been so good at taking my meds, I have 4 different ones to take in the morning,
1 for thyroid that has to be taken a half hour before the others,
one for blood pressure
2 for diabetes
then 2 more for diabetes after supper,
but I don't know what is going on this last week my schedule is wack, I can't remember which ones I took, and so I am missing some,
and yesterday I forget to take them the whole day
does this happen to anyone else, and if so what do you do to remember to take them?

Sorry that such happen. My dad used to take many tablets too, some in the morning, some in the night, some before meal and some after meal. To help him remember his tablets, or at least for us to monitor if he took his pills regularly and correctly, we will pack his medicine every week in different colored containers in 2 different bins. Every night we will monitor the containers. It is tough but it helps him to remember and us to monitor.

I am only on one medication, warfarin (rat poison lol), to combat blood clotting after I had a nasty blood clot in my leg last spring. It has dissolved completely thanks to the medication, however, I must continue to take the medicine daily, likely for the rest of my life.
The instructions that were given on my initial pharmacy information sheet and information booklets I got from my doctor is what I go by when I forget to take my medicine. It says that I am to take my pills at night time, and if I miss a dose, to NOT take it then and there, but to wait until the following night to take the next dose.
I have missed quite a few doses here and there, and it has not adversely affected my bloodwork that I have done every month.
As far as remembering to take my pills, I try to take them at the same time every day. For the most part, I take them after dinner every night. But sometimes, it is quite a few hours after dinner before I remember. I do not have any specific time of day that I choose, only because I cannot guarantee that I will have access to my pills at the same time every night. I can however, pretty much guarantee that I will have some form of food every evening. :)

I actually realized today after an unexpected anger fit (more than one actually) that I've missed SEVERAL doses of my Anti Depression meds (zoloft) this past couple weeks....How many I'm not exactly sure but its enough for me to feel it and uncontrolably (for lack of a betterway of putting it) act out....I've also missed several doses of my Protonix as well for heartburn etc...and also a few doses of my Trazadone too..My back pills I only take as needed and have (be taking those tonight cause I was an idiot and went ot and shoveled today)..My clonazepam I only take as needed as well..and I forget what else I take LOL not a good sign to say the least LOL
Whta do I do when I forget...Well with my Anti Ds i have to say something to the family (usually my kids) and tll them they need to remind me to take them...They are on the ball with that cause NOBODY likes an UNmedicated cranky Raven!! ;-)

oh it is annoying when forgetting to take medication, im not on medication constantly but when i do, sometimes i forget, not much really can be done about it because they say if you forget then just take next day the normal amount otherwise may overdose yourself.

I have so much going on that I usually forget to take mine. I've tried to put it in a place where I look everyday and still I forget. I tried to get my husband to help me but he forgets too. LOL I think now what i'm going to try is setting the alarm on my phone to take my pills and see if that works.

As others have suggested getting a pill caddy is a great thing to have so you know when you have taken your meds and when you haven't. We had to get one for my grandmother and grandfather because they were always forgeting to take their meds and sometimes they would take them then forget and then take again so instead of endangering your health you need to get one they only cost a few dollars and can be a life saver. or you can make one if your crafty. When I have medicine ot take I will set it close to me where I can see it at all times so that I remember and everytime I see it I will look at the clock o see the time. Or have someone call you or set an alarm for when it needs to be taken.

oh well... you sure have a lot of meds to take. i only have one for maintenance of my BP too i take it every mornings.. so it forces me to have breakfast at mornings. :)
i suggest you do try hard to remember and not forget a thing. cause they are your meds and they serve a purpose why they have to be taken at a particular time :D

Some days when I really dont feel good, I forget if I have taken my meds or not. If I am feeling good, I never forget but it seems that when I am sick, my mind just does not work these days.

I take 4 a day and I use a pill box with the days of the week on it, it's the only way I can remember to take them because they are at different times.

Hi winterose,
I can understand why this would be a concern. I've just started taking a diuretic once a day, and I'm to be on them for (at least) a year. These are to keep my blood pressure regulated, and for swelling. Then a week ago, I found out that my thyroid is all out of whack, and have just started meds for this (for life). I take the thyroid one, very early in the morning, and the diuretic, with my breakfast. Yesterday, for the first time, I couldn't remember taking the diuretic, no matter how hard I tried, so I left it, 'believing' that I'd done so. I find this frightening, when I can't remember, so if it happens again, I'll be getting one of those special pill containers. The container is the best thing I can suggest, as others have.

I have a weekly pill box. Each day has 4 sections. That way I know what I've taken and what I haven't.
If I do forget to take the evening meds, I don't worry about it. Sometimes I think about them but it's too early, then when the right time arrives, i'm distracted.
I don't do anything special to remember. Mornings are easy. it's part of my routine -- what little routine I have.

I often forget to take meds. I dont have any right now to take. I have been on birth control for 4 years now with the depo shot. I had to get the shot because I kept forgetting to take the pill. I know people that take like 10-15 different medications a day. My grandmother for one. And my daughters parents. They have a chart that tells which ones they take and what time etc. I dont know how people can take that many.

I only take the ocassional pain pill and allergy pill and when I do forget to take that my allergies let me know it is time. But I do know people who are always forgeting to take their medication. To some forgeting is a health risk while to others it isn't to bad. My mother in law is a diabetic and she is always forgeting to take her medication and by the time she remembers it is sky high. I hope that you will be able to remember to take your medicine. It can throw your whole system out of whack. If I do happen to have to take medication I set an alarm when it goes off I know that it is time for medication.
