How young is Too Young to wear make up Makeup? I have seen girls as young as 9 or 10 wearing make up and I dont think it looks good at all. I think that is too young to be wearing make up. They just seem to grow up too fast these days. It is quite the norm for young girls to wear make up as an early age these days. I think it takes away their self respect. They think they need help to be beautiful and they dont. What age do you think a girl should be before she starts wearing make up?

personally i dont think girls should be wearing makeup any younger than 16yrs old. think about WHY a young girl wants to wear makeup? To look older. and in my mind that is just asking for situations that they shouldnt be involved in and wont know how to handle! children are sexually active at such a young age in these times enough as it is. it SHOULD be marriage, but we all know that it very Rarely is anymore. its bad enough that kids are in such danger of pedophiles..do we really need to add in boys in their late teens (which they im sure already be eyeballed by), much less men in their 20's (or older) who dont realize just how young the girl truly is..or worse, know and use the "she looked older" excuse to go ahead with their interest? 16yrs old was the age i was allowed to first wear lip gloss, blush and mascara..and that was it until i hit 18yrs old. THEN i could wear whatever the hell i wanted lol!

16 is also the age that I think girls should be allowed to wear make up. I never wore make up until I was married. LOL

my mother always told me that make up was fine as long as i applied it properly. I'm twenty-six now. I wear concealer, a little clear masquera, a gentle and natural looking eye shadow and a tinted lip gloss with SPF 30. I agree that girls who have not been taught how to apply make-up end up looking like painted dolls. There is no harm in a tinted lip gloss... help her find the right tint and make it a mother daughter day! Show her how to put it on by showing her how you apply yours. Neautral eyeshadows are a safe bet. re-affirm she is already beautiful and make up is only used to highlight the best! Besides.. if you buy it you have control over what she gets and can teacher her what she needs to know while still impressionable. But you can set rules. If shopping with you she can wear make up, but not at school until she is older. She will respect your opinion because you gave her a little freedom

I think maybe 13 is about the right age to wear make-up maybe 12. I know my step meice puts it on and she just turned 10 in December. I don't mind it so much at home but not in public. I think her momma lets her wear it in public. her daddy and my sister don't allow it.

As far as I'm concerned 90% of the women in the world shouldn't wear make-up - let that natural beauty shine through is my thinking. 9 or 10? I've seen them as young as 4 or 5. They even market special lines for the 'little girls' and I think it's horrid. My daughter has even gotten it for my 2 year old granddaughter. What happened to little girls being little girls?

4 or 5 years old is just plain crazy. How is a girl going to feel good about themselves if they feel they need make up on to look good. No wonder they have self esteem problems in society today.

well, i think the focus of young girls at that age is to pass their exams and learn more things as educated as they can be. I am 23 now and i just started wearing makeup because you need to be seen as presentable in workplace. During that age 9-up i never did wear make up because its not my priority, what is important to me is i passed school. actually i can say " its better to don't look pretty what is important is that i can answer everytime my teacher ask me, and it would not be discouraging.

I think that the best age is around 15. Before raching that age it is bad for the skin if we are using make up. Beauty without make up is really much more important..

Young girls have no business being concerned so much about their appearance that they are wanting makeup! I don't think that makeup should be an issue until a girl is at least 16 years old. It really bugs me when I see these darned makeup kits for young girls (ages 10 and under!) We place far to much worth on people's looks rather than their inner person in my opinion. Not to mention that using makeup at such a young age couldn't be good for the skin! Heck, it isn't good for skin at any age, especially when we allow a girl to start that early!

That is incredibly young. I would not even allow my girls to wear makeup that young. 3 of my girls were right around 15...in high school when they first wanted to wear makeup. They used it lightly and in good taste so I had no problem with it. My 14 year old just started to wear a small amount but like her sisters, it is subtle and light.

I think it depends on the maturity of the skin and the degree of sensitivity of somebody elses skin to cosmetics. At 26, I don;t wear make up often, I even go to work even with no powder or lipstick. I am not comfortable with it so it all depends on the persson. If a 13-year old adolescent is comfortable with it, then there is no problem as long as it is not too heavy and un-fit for where she is. I don't agree with high schools wearing make ups. I still prefer seeing them as fresh as they get out of the shower.

I agree with you. I always see very young girls with make ups. Maybe it's their parents fault also because they allow their children to put make up at very early age. A little make up like powder and lip gloss is okay for me, but too much is a no-no. I think a girl should start wearing make up when they are at least 17 yo.

I think girls don't need makeup before they are 20.Young girls have the natural beauty in them ,wearing makeup will just cover their beauty .Wearing makeup too early will hurt their skins and is bad for the health. I don't like wearing makeup .Maybe girls at a young age want to be respected as a grown-up, they want to show their identity. But I don't think that'a good way .

I agree with you!!! When I drive down the streets of my hometown I see girls that are 10-13 that look like their 16-17! It's because they are dressing and acting like them. I have a 13 year old sister who also wears makeup and dresses like she is much older. It bothers me because it makes me wonder if she is doing the things that most 16-17 year olds do. I can't step in because I am not her mother, but it seems that is the norm for girls her age. I also have a daughter, granted she is just a baby, I will not set a specific age for her to start wearing makeup. I believe that it will be determined on her maturity, and the level of responsability she has towards those issues.

I think girls should start wearing makeup probably around when they are teenagers....13...or so..but there is a limit also...not too much makeup.

I think, at the very least, a girl should be a teenager before using makeup. I didn't wear it on a regular basis until I was about sixteen, which is the age my parents allowed me to date. It sounds quite ridiculous to me that girls who are only 9 or 10 are wearing makeup. What does that say about their self-esteem? And what parent wants their daughter to be perceived that way? I think we should teach young girls that they are beautiful, with or without the makeup. And besides, that stuff will wreck your skin eventually.

I think when they're 12 or 13 they can wear a little bit of lip gloss, and blush. When they're 15 or 16 they can wear eye makeup too. They have to be shown how to wear it properly though so they don't end up looking like clowns or trampy. I think it's a real shame when little girls are all "tarted" up. I can't stand the belly shirts and no little girls should be wearing pants with "juicy" on their bums.

Judging by my own daughters and their friends 13 seems to be the age.Of course there are parents Who do not allow their children to wear makeup and that is their perogative.Personally i did not stop my daghters as long as the make up was not too heavy. They don't need a lot of makeup , in fact they don't need any but they are all wearing it so they want to be like the rest.

Hello villageanne. Nowadays there are many young girls, especially late teen girls love to use makeup and wear mature clothes to make them look sexy and mature when they are supposed to pay more attention to their study like many students in senior high schools. I think that it is better for girls above twenty to wear makeup...

I think the best age to wear makeup is 14.Since it is too young for the people whose age is lest than 14.
