Worldwide trend it is very difficult to say how much bandwidth required to run your computer properly because a lot of it depends on what operating system you will be running and what is the consideration of your computer as an how much processor power to the have accepted. Generally if you're using Windows XP it is recommended to use something more than 128 MBO of RAM because for the operating system to function smoothly and two to four that is very much required. If you are thinking of installing vista although I do not recommend it you need at least once every of RAM and a good graphic card support so that your system can at least be with that heavy operating system so you say it is not easy to tell you which prompted directors how much RAM without looking into other things.

What kind of computer(PC,MAC,SERVER), what kind of OS(Linux,XP,VISTA,98).
It all depends of the type of OS you are running, anything from 512 to 3GB is enough.
Also if you are using your computer for gaming you'll need a lot of RAM and HD space.

What Operating System do you use or are planning to use? This is an impossible question to answer without additional information about what type of system that you have and what do you use your computer for.

I think i should recommend 512MB Ram for todays general purpose life to do computing. As i need to work on heavy applications like ripping movies into compressed codecs. So i have installed around 2GB RAM in my own Desktop pc. And its running very smoothly and fine. About a year ago i have only 256MB RAM and i always got some problem with that RAM and so i decided to change and upgrade my whole pc so that i can do some heavy work on my Desktop pc.

Ya i surely wouldn't mind!!
With .net i would build web based applications and also perform Database connectivity through it.
net is a new generation software which is gradually increasing its demand.

That totally depends on what you actually use your computer for the most. If you are just responding to things on discussion forums, such as myLot, then you can get away with a low amount of RAM - about 512kb. However, if you spend a lot of time on sites with a lot of content - gaming sites, YouTube, etc, then a minimum of 1GB or more is what I would recommend.
Hope this helps!

If you're on vista, 1g ram minimum, 2g of ram is recommended. For xp, I think 512mb is sufficient enough to handle your daily needs.
