Sick and tired of people complaining about how much AC pays

Sorry but I need to rant for a moment. I am sick and tired of people complaining about declining offers and how they hate the Performance Pay. I guess people can't see the big picture.
The performance pay is a good thing! Why? Because you receive payments for as long as AC is around. This could be years! You can make good money from PVs and even small amounts add up.
Here's a quick example: You write 10 articles for AC. You receive $4.00 for each one. Now they happen to be pretty good articles and average around 100 page views each per week. Now that's 1000 page views per week. So based off AC's current pay rate of $1.50 you earn $1.50 per week. Now that doesn't sound like much but lets take that and multiply that over a whole year. Now you've earned yourself $72.00 just from the performance pay! That's $7.20 per article for a grand total of $11.20 per article. Now if you wrote those articles each in about 30 minutes that's $22.40 an hour!
Now I realize I am making a few large assumtions but I hope this gives you an idea of the power of the performance pay. Keep in mind that your articles will pay you for months if not years down the road.
Performance Pay also helps AC stay sustainable. They don't make money unless someone actually views an article. Now if they are paying authors mainly based on people viewing articles then they can be sure they are making money in the process instead of just paying an author and hoping for the best.
Would you rather AC pay you $15.00 for each article but disappear a year later or be paid $4.00 plus performance pay for 20 years?
Thank you for reading this and I do aplogize for the rant. I've just seen too many complaints to just sit back and pretend this isn't a problem. I of course welcome you comments on this and I'm open to any ideas and criticism. That's the only way we as people learn.

I did ask a question about the pay at AC, but mine was more of a curiosity than a complaint. I understand the value of performance payments, I get the same thing for my articles at Helium. I am new at AC, so when I ask questions it is because I am trying to get to know the site and how it works. Their FAQ is helpful, but doesn't cover everything. Sorry if my asking questions has contributed to your frustrations.

No! not at all! Asking questions is perfectly fine and encouraged. You have not contributed at all to this problem. Its the people constantly putting the site down when they don't even understand it that bugs me.
I agree there FAQ isn't the best but on the other hand they have to keep payments vague so that it can used for many situations. Would be a pain if they had to change there FAQ every time they made a tiny change to earnings.

That's exactly why I have never signed up for Helium, I liked the guaranteed payment from AC. I think the main reason people are complaining, is that they didn't sign up for this.
It would be like, you start your job out on salary. Then you end up being paid hourly a year later, and your hourly pay is less than salary so that you'd have to work 60 hours a week instead of 40. You would be upset. But if you just came into that company and knew that's what you would make, you'd be fine with it. That's how AC is. Even though the old timers are making more in performance payments than the newbies, it's still less than we all used to make.

No one at AC was ever overpaid except for maybe those people who just wrote total crap and somehow got paid for it. AC is not a real job, the pay there sucks. It's an extra at most. It's a whole lot better than MyLot as far as pay per hour, but here neither would even meet minimum wage generally.

I really don't have a problem with performance pay. I like the traffic I get at AC without having to work for it. However, all in all, I make a little less there then I do at my other sites (on an average per article) unless we include upfront payment, that I have gotten on some articles.
But, then I am one who isn't as picky about the money portion of writing. More picky about the site, the things required of me to make money (I hate rating at Helium!), and how much time I have to spend doing things other then writing.

Agreed! Rating at helium has its pace but I personally dislike it as well. Granted I use helium mainly to gauge how my writing stacks up to others. Which other sites do you write on besides AC and helium? I'm always on the look out for other sites that'll pay for my writing.

Ok, but the performance payments are only a good thing for people who have been members for years already. I have been a member for a long time, so every month I get a tiny bonus. Let me tell you, I would never have written my articles only for that amount.
I still write occasionally, but only often enough to keep my account active so that I'll still receive the bonus payments. Before I would write constantly because I felt that I was actually making like $10/hr at it. Now that I'm not, I'm not going to write practically for free.
And by the way, I think you are making pretty large assumptions there. I have 100+ articles up and only make about $10 a month. I have nearly 100,000 page views too. But I try not to complain too much. If I didn't already have articles up, I'd probably just leave. It's not like AC is holding anyone against their will. I definitely wouldn't start writing there at this point if I was new to the whole thing. But being an old timer there, I still write occasionally and consider the performance views the payment for those articles.

I don't hate the Performance Pay. I just get discouraged and I thought well maybe my articles aren't that good or maybe it's just I need to seriously sit down and think. Not something I blame AC for because I'm sure it happens to others. Lately I haven't been writing on the site because of trying to figure out how to get better at promoting. I'm going to try a blog and see if I can get some views that way. Least I'm not giving up so easily.
I do explore other options because as a whole I feel I can get better and use all my experience in writing in trying to improve overall to help generate another stream of income. Writing may not be my full-time gig to be in success but it does help nevertheless. I also write at Helium but that's about it.
I could post a link to my profile but only if asked to and I think it's all ready there and plus I got an RSS feed on my latest articles there if anyone is interested.

I love Associated Content. I agree with you. I think it's awesome to get paid residual income as long as the website is around. I could be earning a little extra money for the rest of my life by just submitting articles now! I love it. :) Great discussion.

I really enjoy AC myself and residual income is always a good thing. Glad you are enjoying the discussion
