Drivers Licenses being replaced

I was listening to the radio on the way to work yesterday and they said that drivers licenses will be replaced eventually with ids through Homeland Security. They did not give much detail about it but they said that Delaware got an extension on it through 2009 so it seems that this will happen in the near future. What is your thoughts on that? I wonder how tough it will be to get this id and what steps you will have to go through. Has anyone else heard about this?

Yes, it is called the Real ID. It is going to have all of your person information on it and will go into place, I believe late 2009. At one point they were going to put a microchip in it to just wave over a scanner, but I think they are back to the magnetic strip like drivers licenses have. To get the ID, you need a SSN card, birth certificate, and a few other documents. I believe this will also take place of passports for the US. Here is more information on it: http://www.news.com/National-ID-cards-on-the-way/2100-1028_3-5573414.html

It was suppose to be an RFID chips, but I don' believe they can make them secure enough which is why that feature was taken out. It is the same type of chips that is in some credit cards.

Thank you for sharing that website with me and everyone. I had no idea that they were considering something like this til I heard it on the radio. It sounds like there will be no need for passports if they are going to do this now. I wonder how much these ids will cost a person when renewing their license.

microchip, i smell something real shi**y about this. I feel like betting on a long shot and saying its a RFID chip thats coming after that chip, if not the actual chip thats going on the so called Real ID. Im going to follow this development with great interest, feels like knowing about this could be important.

Yes I have heard about it. You will have to show proof of who you are to get your drivers license renewed. Now you just have to show your drivers license, when they start this you have to show your birth certificate and your SScard. Now is the time to get a copy of your birth certiicate if you don't already have one. How have you been Ken, its nice seeing you around.

I am doing okay. Still dealing with bronchitis but am hanging in there. I have my social security card and pretty sure that I have my birth certificate here somewhere. Hopefully this change will help with identity theft and possible terrorism.

Actually, I got married year before last and when I went in to change the name on my ID I had to show marriage license, birth certificate, old ID and social security card. My Grandmother got her's renewed last summer and she had to show her birth certificate, old license and social security card. She didn't have her birth certificate and had a heck of a time trying to get one. She finally had to get a special paper to waive it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I personally have not heard much about this one so I have no idea if there is something true to this or not. I feel that is they really resort to something like this, it is time to give up our Freedom. But then you never know what will really happen. I feel a lot of the things starting to come to pass are Biblical and only time will tell when the next president is elected in November from there.

It makes you wonder what will be so special about them. It is scary, they just keep doing more so they know what we are doing.

I don't know if it's accurate or not but I had heard about this a while back and the person that told me said there is supposed to be a tracking chip in the id's. It wouldn't surprise me if there was. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
