Do you know that it's better to shower before bed?
Well it is!
During a normal day you pick up toxins and allergins from the things around us.
Walking through a crowd of smokers
walking near a highway(exhaust)
Even purfumes and powders from being hugged by friends
All of these things are better washed down the drain before snuggling in your bed.
Especially those with asthma, allergies should wash their bedding with non-toxic cleaners and shower prior to bed.
Vacuum instead of dusting the dust away..it only stirs it up
The room you sleep in should be very clean and dust free..
This is the room you spend the most time in.
Other rooms we move through all day long...
Bedrooms we spend 5+ hours straight ..breathing the air
With spring coming we need to start thinking about the allergins spring brings us.
Shaklee sells an airsource that I have decided I will buy.
I have animals so we have lots of dust.
Be good to yourself..shower before bed!

I think showering before going to the bed is not only due to the hygiene following whole day’s work; but also relax the body and help people to get into sleep. So I am used to this custom as far as I can remember. But hubby doesn’t like this custom; instead he likes to shower in the morning after waking up so that he is clean and fresh for work. I used to argue this with him, but he is used to what he used to be and I finally have to respect his ‘custom’. LOL

Hello there, showing too much does harm our skin, but once a day I think it is quite reasonable. Meanwhile, we can use moisture to soften and look after skin after the shower.
But Rosabranca and raydene mentioned the mites that really worry me as I always scare of the insects. Personally I don’t think there are mites in my bed...

some good advice here sis , I do know you are right as I am have asthma, but I like mine in the morning so it wakens me up , When Jim has been for a pint he showers or washed his head and face with baby wipes before he has a lie down in the afternoon , if he doesn't do this the smoke from the pub bothers my asthma , We have had smoke free bars for years but they stand in the doorways to smoke and it still blows into the bar xx

You are correct that showering at night washes away the day's accumulation of dirt, toxins, and body oils/secretions. I absolutely have to shower before bed or I don't feel clean and can't relax. I have tried to delay my shower until morning and just can't get to sleep; always getting back up and showering! I do understand that a morning shower can be very refreshing and a great way to wake up, but I simply must go to bed clean. I certainly can't afford to shower both evening and morning as the increase in the electric bill to heat the water would be astronomical, so I suppose I'll stick with my evening shower!

And all this time I thought it was just to relax at the end of a hard day, LOL. I have always showered at night. Never knew all this though.

That is good information. I guess I'm in the minority though because every time I shower at night I find it harder to get to sleep than if I didn't. It's like taking a shower wakes me back up after I've gotten tired. But I still agree that showering at night is better for all of the reasons that have already been stated.

I shower or take bathes in the morning and than some times a night but I do not always do it every day I still take a sponge bath one in a while do not take this the wrong way but every one is so worried about what is in the air these days and the powders but back when I was growing up we never heard of such things and we are still alive I don't mean to sound sarcastic and if I did please for give me ,I live by my self and when you live on a fixed income like mind trying to get all your bills paid at the end of the month sometimes you have to make adjustments I have to pay for sewer and 2 water bills so it takes a chuck of change to not fall behind on the bills. So in regards to your post I am a clean person.

I always take a shower or a bath at night. About the washing the bedding, we do not make enough money to change the bedding every night. That would mean every morning, taking out the sheets, washing them, and keeping the bed sheetless until we go to bed and then putting the new sheets on. Of course, we can leave it to the afternoon,so we can take a nap. I would say having the windows open might be a good idea. Oh and I do not vacuum the bedroom everyday and I just move things around on the dresser. I do not have that much room to put the stuff on the dresser away, so I do have a problem.

Wow! I did not know this! I used to shower before bed every night, but then I got out of the habit when I got married. Thanks for the info! I'll have to get back in the habit. :)

Thanks for sharing that information. I actually prefer to shower or bathe before I go to bed. For some reason it helps me to relax and sleep easily, thats probably why I have my son bathe before bedtime too. I find he sleeps so much better :)

Thank you for these tips,I had not heard this before. It does
make sense now that I read it.I spent a night in the hospital
last week on oxygen and fluids. The doctor told me to make sure
I stayed away from smoke, dust, and pet hair.

I never thought of it this way before, but you are so right. I don't spend that much time in my bedroom except for sleeping. but like you said its where we spend the most uninterrupted time, sleeping. We do move about in the other rooms. I also have the animals, and since I am their mamma, they all like to sleep in my room.

I never really gave this much thought, but it is so true! I also feel so much better when I shower before going to bed, because it helps me relax and get myself into the drowsy-mode.

I don't have a shower, simply because the bathroom is not designed to have one. There is a window at the end of the bath, so no room to fit one up, unfortunately.
So... I take baths, and yes, an evening bath is better, not only to get rid of the toxins and allergies, but because I use lavender to relax me, and prepare me for sleep. When I bathe in the morning, I omit the lavender and use oils which will awaken my senses for the coming day.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxx

I have always subscribed to the benefits of showering prior to going to bed...
morning showerers do so because it wakes them up to start the day fresh.
In the summers I like to take one in the morning - and then after a day of work (out in the yard etc) sometimes I will take another one before bed. I can not stand being dirty and sweaty after working outside and then coming in and not getting right to a shower.
what is an "air source"?

Well, I didn't know that.
I bathe any time I want and it is not really fixed.
But it does appear quite common that it is one of the last activities before I go sleep.
It does feel quite good to feel totally clean when I lie down on my bed.:)

Hi raydene - This is a good idea. I never really thought of it that way before. I usually shower in the morning, but sometimes if I've been doing housework or just feel hot & sticky I do take another one or at least a bath at night before bed. My husband has terrible allergies & my son has allergies too so this would be especially good advice for them.
