Do you find the act of cooking a joy or a chore? When I was younger, I found it a joy. Lately, it has become a chore. If I didn't work and had time to experiment with new recipes and cook leisurely, I might find it more enjoyable. What about you? Is cooking a joy or a chore?

Cooking often can be a chore. I love to cook, so to avoid getting sick of it I make new things.
Last night I made pan seared mahi mahi and ratatouille. Ratatouille will now be on my regular menu. My mom is here often and she is a diabetic. Her blood sugar this morning was 138.
I guess I get less tired of it because I am challenged to make meals that don't drive her sugar up.

I really enjoy cooking. Now I only cook for one most of the time so I have added cooking for my dogs! They never seem to not like anything or complain!! LOL.

I love to cook, so I guess I would say joy. It's fun to do and I love what comes out when I'm done. There are days when I make simple things and then there are the other's when I go all out because I want to have a big dinner. However, the chore part is in the clean up. I hate doing dishes and would love to have a dishwasher to clean up the mess left behind.

Cooking can be a Chore and Joy, I love to cook, but only if it is for a lot of people. I really enjoy cooking when I am cooking for a whole lot of people. I went to Culinary Arts School for cooking. I was a Chef at one time. It can be hard work sometimes. it is better to clean as you go.

This depends on my mood and is also seasonal. In winter, the kind of vegetables that we get create this mood and I prepare interesting recipes with vegetables , naming them as vegetable delights .
Otherwise, i just do this without much thought except a mild concentration on the nutritive value.I just do whatever is necessary and not too elaborately. When I have to finish certain other jobs, or when I am sick but have to cook, because no one else does this at home ,it becomes a chore. Then it becomes the last of my priorities.

I used to love to cook, I would make nice things for myself and my husband. Now, I am working in a group home, where no matter what you cook, it just seems like you are cooking the same thing all of the time and no matter what, it is tough and overdone.
We do not have the needed things to make a nice meal, no food processor, not even sharp knives. I have to beg for almost a year to get a meat thermometer.
There are so many dietary restrictions..it is frustrating.
When I get home, I just hate to go into the kitchen.

I find cooking to be a joy IF I am not being constantly interrupted .... I guess I am one that needs to keep my mind on the moment. my little one is as sweet as can be but an incessant talker! putting her to work chopping up a stalk of celery (even if I do not need it) really helps on keeping her occupied and not in the way.

When i was a student, my grandmother was the one cooking for all us. My aunty, brother and I were just waiting what she serves in the table and we enjoyed eating what she serves. And now i far from our home and now i live with my friends.
We lived in a boarding house and we have a group scheduled for cooking. We were ten in the house and my cooking assignment scheduled every saturday and sunday. Saturday and sunday are rest days for almost of us.
Every saturday two cookers assigned and three cookers for sunday. My schedule for cooking belongs to this days. I find the joy of cooking when you know what to cook and the recepies your going to cook is acceptable to my friends tastes... The more joy i felt when i saw my friends enjoyed eating what i served on the table.
So the secret why my grandmother have joy cooking for us is that we enjoy her cooking much. A cooking with love reaps JOY.
Have nice day!

Cooking definitely is a joy for me! I love cooking. What I really do not like is washing the dishes and everything else after cooking.

I have come to regard it as fun as I am alone to experiment a little and try out new recipes and if I do not like my own cooking well okay then.my son is gone all day so I have all kinds of time when I am not mylotting to do some cooking. I sometimes run out of ideas but go to the internetfor some new ones.

For me, cooking is a joy and sometimes a chore.
It makes me happy to cook for those who are close to me. And I really love it when they appreciate my cooking.
Sometimes its a chore because even though i don't want to cook, I tend to get forced to do it. So that my loved one's would have something really delicious to eat.
Its always their appreciation that is rewarding when cooking. :)

For the most part I still find cooking and experimenting in the kitchen as more of a joy. If I'm not feeling well, or if my arthritis is in a flare up, that's about the only time I find it's a chore, and that's only because I have trouble opening packages, stirring, etc. It's fun to get inventive in the kitchen and come up with something new!

Cooking, and making menus, and shopping for the food is part of one of my jobs. I really enjoy it, especially when I can tweak a boring menu from the menu book into something memorable. My clients are sort of limited in what they can buy, so I try to make it taste like something new and special.

If I want to eat then I have to cook. I am not tired of cooking I am tired of not knowing what to cook anymore. I have to watch some cooking shows just to get ideas to make something different. I guess I should not complain, I know there are people in the world who don't even have enough food to fill their stomaches.

I absolutely love to cook. I'm used to cooking for large groups of people as I came from a gigantic family of Irish, Greeks, and Italians so I'm used to cook for about 20 people. I have my days of course every now and then where it does feel like a chore but for the most part I enjoy it. I love to cook from scratch. Everything from scratch. Cooking is a wonderful hobby of mine.

Today cooking was fun. I had company and made spaghetti sauce from scratch. Thank goodness I made a ton of food because tomorrow I won't want to cook anything. I have a great day of cooking and then go several days of making nice meals, but only because I feel I have to make sure we eat healthy. A new cookbook or recipe can get me going, a discussion on here is always great for new ideas and enthusiasm. And as far as time goes, when I'm off work I sometimes feel even lazier about cooking...? whit

I sometimes feel that cooking is a chore. For the most part I do enjoy it. I love food and eating so when I am hungry I tend to do a fair job at it.
