Self-tanning lotions. Winter and summer, or just summer?

Do you use self-tanning lotions in the winter months as well as the summer months or do you find having a 'tan' in the winter looks unnatural? Do you feel the need to look tan in the winter? If so, for what reason?

I noticed here in Illinois that the only ones that are tan are the teens. Unfortunately for them, they are using tanning beds instead lotions...probably because at that age they feel that there is no way they will get skin cancer. They also aren't aware of how much skin damage they will have by age 30. Feeling invincible is a dangerous thing. I personally don't use the lotion until Summer because I can't see spending the money and don't want that stuff in my pores year round. It's okay to be pale when it's chilly out. ; )

I think I would rather look tanned in the winter. I dont have the money to spend though to get tanned. In the summer its free from the sun.I just hate looking pale and the sun also helps with acne and stuff like that. I dont get acne much in the summber but I do in the winter and I hate it. Where I live though we dont get very much summer which sucks.

I never use those in the winter OR the summer. I've never had good luck with those, I always end up streaky, especially on the knees, ankles, and elbows! I can't help but get a tan from when I work outside in the summer, but I see no need to have one during the winter. In the winter I'm so white I'd make Morticia look like she has a tan lol. When I see somebody with a tan in the winter I always think that they must have had a vacation, or gone to the tanning salon.

As I am covered from head to foot in the winter I never use tanning lotion, no one would see it. As for the summer, being the lazy moo I am I only tan the bottom half of my legs and my arms. I often wonder what would happen if I was in an accident. I know people always go on about having clean underwear, my concern would be my half hearted tan.

I don't use self tanning lotions at all, although I have considered it. I love the look of my skin tanned, and had the most incredible tan of my life last summer! I had seriously considered going to a tanning salon to keep it up over the winter months, but then never got around to it. Maybe next year? I know they're improving greatly on these new lotions and sprays, but I still worry about the blotchy appearance. The only time winter tans look unnatural is when someone pulls a "George Hamilton" and looks TOO dark. But that look is wrong in any season and climate in my opinion. ;)

I don't tan all the time. I tan just to keep the natural looking tan I guess you would call it. I do it any time of the year. And its also relaxing too. I don't like the self-tanning lotions, to much work lol

I did not even make it to "tan" in the summer last year. I did, however, for spring break, buy one of those tanning moisturizers, store brand, of course. I want to go back to work after spring break looking tanned, so that the people at my first job think I had a really nice time off, when in reality all I did was work extra at my second job. I try not to look at myself much at all right now, as it is not pretty, so I would find it somewhat incongruous to happen to glimpse myself tanned and lovely (let's make it unbelievable) and thin, in a mirror. A lot of people I know go skiing and you can get a good tan on exposed skin doing that.

tanning - self tanning
I don't use self tanning lotion during the winter. Like you just said, it doesn't look natural for me. I use self tanning lotion during late spring and during the summer...
