Its every woman duty since the very first. But at our present time male and female have equal responsibilities but this is not an excuse for women to neglect some of her responsibilities. There are incident that man is a bette cook than the woman so its okay to give to him that part but woman must to better on the other task.

I don't know the standard in India but here in the United states it is a good idea for both boys and girls to learn to cook since many are waiting to get married and are living on their own. In my opinion ever boy and every girl should learn to keep house, sew (at least buttons) and cook. One never knows how long they will be alone. Even when men marry they should be able to help with the house hold chores, because today many women work out side the home.

I think I would change that opening line to 'EVERY PERSON' shoulf learn how to cook. As in other things it is important for men and women both to learn basic survival skills of which cooking is but just one.

My sister's husband can't cook to save his life, but I can't imagine not being able to do something so simple as preparing your own food. When I grew up, men were never expected to be able to do such things, and I was never taught how to cook when I was at school or at home - I taught myself from cookery books and asking my mother's advice. It was just as well that I did so, as I ended up looking after my mother when she became to infirm to look after herself - including all of the cooking.

With due respect, this is a pretty outdated definition. I feel everyone should learn to cook, enough to survive. Why should a guy be so dependent on a girl to get a meal? And also the other way round, why should the girl be the only one to cook ? Cooking should not be a gender related thing. Anybody who wants to eat must know how to cook some basic stuff atleast.

not every girl should know how to cook ! guys should know how to cook also , and it wouldnt be fair if only the girls cook for their man ! i think that when a couple is cooking together it kind of brings them together and its sort of sexy when you see a guy cooks for you !

It is good for the guys to learn how to cook also. Now a days women have careers and work and the cooking should not be left only for her to do. Besides you never know if one day the woman will dump him and he will have to cook for himself. Oh, it happens!

I completely agree with howard96h on this one. Not only that, I truly believe times have changed and the "he world/she world", has progressed into a "shared world". We no longer live in the "caveman" days, of he hunts and kills, and she cleans and cooks.

I do believe that females and males should learn to cook. I come from a very large family where the men cook right along with the women and help with the cleanup. Life is different today from 50 years ago and there are no more traditional roles. Women have careers along with their mates and work long hours also. In our home, whoever gets home first or has the day off does the cooking. Holidays, everyone chips in. Makes things much more festive.
