Yesterday was my hubby's 69th birthday and most of you know we almost lost him 18 months ago when he had a triple heart bypass ,
He had a great day , We had visits from our eldest son in the morning and his lovely wife and our 2 gorgeous granddaughters in the afternoon , we also saw our middle son and his 2 handsome sons phoned when the got home from school , He had a visit from 2 of a lovely neighbour's kids who have adopted him as their Grandpa with presents and a card. their Mum had phoned down to hubby's local and ordered 2 pints to be left for him behind the bar , so he got a lovely surprise when he went down for his pint , It was a lovely day and I felt so lucky to still have him and all the love that surrounded him,
To top it off went out for our dinner with our youngest son Ross who still lives with us . I just appreciate still having hubby with us . it was a perfect day xx

Give him a "Happy Birthday" greeting from me!
I turned 66 this year and have been giving a lot of thought to "How long do we have?"
I figure at best I have twenty years. But since I am not in the best of health I probably have less than twenty years.
So I have been thinking about the things I want to do while I'm still able. I want to travel, to see parts of our country that I've always wondered about. But to do that I would have to spend down my investments. If I knew for sure I wouldn't need that money to live on for twenty years, it would be easier for me to decide to spend it.
But since I have no way of increasing that financial safety net I really hesitate to just take it and go see things. How do you handle that?

Hiya pal , I will be 66 this year too , Although I don't keep too great myself I am sure I will be around for a long time to come , My parents are *( and 90 , I don't get any holidays as I care for my hubby , my son who has CP and my parents who still live in their own home and have Alzheimers , I love to drive though and we go for some lovely drives , I wish you well in all you do xx

The way our age group keeps getting better and better I think you should hang on to yhour investments as you may live well into your eighies and even beyond. I am eighty one and hope to have a few good years ahead of me yet. we are trulyliving longer because we are learning more and more on how to keep healthy.

Happy Birthday to your hubby Margaret! It sounds like he had a great birthday, and he must have felt very special with all the attention he got! Just knowing that people (especially family) care is the best present we could have, and I'm sure you hubby feels the love that surrounds him.
The day was rounded off perfectly by going out for dinner with you and Ross.
A perfect day all round.

How lovely for you all Wee. It sounds like you spent a wonderful birthday with much love to go around. I hope you have many more. It's so good to hear about your lovely family and dear friends. I hope his health continues to be good.
I've just returned from a couple days spent with my Dad. He gets a bit forgetful but is otherwise very healthy. We spoke about his 95th birthday this June and planned another visit from me and we will have our favourite roast turkey. Life's too short to wait for Christmas.

Hi weeman,
You sure have a busy day celebrating grandpa's 69th birthday, lol! I'm glad you all have a great time.
This only remind us that we should appreciate all the people around us in as much as we can. Life is too short and time is flying at a fast pace.
We need to treasure each moment we spent with our loved ones. Sooner or later, someone will go but the memories will forever remained in our hearts.

You're welcome. We're going to be away for a week, visiting family, for March Break, but will catch up with you afterwards. I'm not sure if I have 'your new e-mail address,' but would like it, so if you could send it to me, I'd appreciate this. I believe you have my address.:)

Here's a belated happy birthday to your hubby! 69 is still fairly young by today's standards. My mom is 91 years old and my mother-in-law is 82. I understand how you feel so lucky to have him, considering his health problems but luckily he had a by-pass and hopefully he'll be fine for many more years if he takes care of himself. I guess we all find ourselves wondering how long we have once we reach a certain age, at 55 I sometimes think of things I've yet to do and wonder if there's still enough time left to do them, but I don't think we should dwell on that. Cherish every "perfect day" you're blessed with no matter what age you are, that's how I look at it because we never know how long we have.

I know just how you feel weemam. My dad had a major heart attack in December 1990 and we darned near lost him. He had to be transported from one hospital to another to have a five way bypass done. He looked so horrible after the surgery but the next day he looked so much better. He came home Christmas Day and it was the best present we kids and mom could've ever gotten! What a Christmas Present!!

I understand exactly how you feel. I nearly lost my hubby, it will be two years ago this coming May. He was diagnosed with a rare form of heart disease. Every morning I awake and thank God that he is still with me and every evening I thank the Creator for another blessed day. Each and every day is now precious to us.

It sounds like your hubby had a lovely day, and I guess thats what its all about, making the most of every day and enjoying every precious moment as much as we can. I take life for granted, I let the downs of life get in the way and then sometimes I will read other peoples stories of their lives and it brings it back to me fully that you cant take life for granted, my dad will be 62 this year and he is in good health but sometimes I cant believe he is in his 60s he doesnt seem to have changed at all. I hope you have many many more perfect days.
