Do you? Why? Let's all make up reasons why!

HeHe. I am feeling silly. I've noticed that many people who are drinking bottled water or beer tend to peel and tear the labels off the bottles. Do you do this? Do you have any reasons as to why you do it if you do? Let's have fun and make up reasons/rationalizations as to why this is a common occurrence! I'll start. I think that people who sit in a bar and peel the label from their bottle of beer do it because they are embarrassed by the brand that they are drinking! Ha!

Maybe they do it to confuse the poor barmaid lol. Or...they just had a new rec room put in and they're planning on having it wallpapered with their favorite labels. Of course a feat of this magnitude would take years to accomplish, so they drink even more so they can get it wallpapered quicker...barkeep, another round please?!

Haha, nice topic. I myself leave labels on for a majority of the time. It's just easier that way, the label tend not to sweat so it's just nicer. I will however peel the label off if someone near me has the same type or brand of drink. I don't know if it's just a habit that I've developed as I'm preoccupied with keeping anything I put in my body germ free or just a weird quirk that I picked up from seeing other people do it, but that's the only time I tear the label off.

Well.I don't do that.I never felt the need to peel off the labels.I am always busy opening them, pouring into a glass and downing.

That made me start to think about the Sheryl Crow song where they peel the label off their bottle of Bud! I sometimes peel the label of my bottle of water. I don't peel the label off if it has a deposit on it. A nickel is a nickel. Wish that they would start to put deposits on all bottles!

Hmm... I have no idea that people are doing this. However, I doubt that they are embarrassed by what they are drinking. They probably have nothing better to do. When your fingers get itchy, you begin to peel and tear the labels off bottles.:P

When I do that, it's because I have nothing else to do, and I want to make myself preoccupied with something. Like when waiting for somebody and I arrived early, or waiting for the bus, something like that.

I do it at home to differeniate my drink from someone elses in the house. I cringe at the thought of drinking out of someone elses drink. I've never done it outside the home that I can remember. I used to like to chew on straws though lol.

Out of 13 people in the household when I was a kid, all were pepsi drinkers. Knowing how gross the siblings were when younger, I used to take the label of the glass throw aways and peel a peice of the foam paper to identify which one was mine. Later on in the years, when we got the plastic ones, I will tear and fold a corner at the seam making sure that I have identified my non-abused, wonderful tasting pepsi. Yup thats what I do. I did drink a while back and remembered that if you peeled the big label off of a budlight that meant you were going to get "some" by someone, and the little one always turned into the "patch". LOL! By the end of the night I was covered in mine and everyone elses as the drunk who was on the patch, of course the cops didn't find that too amusing....LOL

I don't do that,I think It's silly .Why have to do that kind of thing. They are embarrassed by the brand so they tear it off,but they still got the bottle, that seems to tell people:I am embarrassed by the label! If they don't peel the brand off, maybe nobody will notice it,but when they do,people will start wondering:why? That's interesting.
