I like to relax while reading, so I don't usually like anything too stimulating. I mainly stick with Christian fiction now.
I especially like the books that are a series, where you can see the characters grow and change at different points in their lives. The family/friends branch out and become subjects of more books.

I agree with you about reading series. I can't get enough of them, and I never want them to end as I want to know what happens to every character. I'm currently reading like 6 Series, and have to get the next books in each of them.

I don't know if I have a favorite genre. I enjoy detective novels like the Spencer series by Robert B. Parker. I also enjoy thrillers like Clancy, Brown, Cussler. I like business/strategy books like Collins. I even like sci-fi/fantasy like Tolkien, Lewis or Brookes. But it has to be well written. A book can have a great story but if the writing is flat or juvenile I can't get through it. Unfortunately I have hurt my wife's feeling by not being able to finish books she has bought for me. I know shame on me...

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I love Christian fiction as well. Love the Left Behind series and anything by Peretti.
