To me, plot in anything I watch, particularly anime, is extremely important in what I choose to watch. I enjoy series that have a lot of depth, character development, intrigue, action, comedy, romance, magic, hope, despair, darkness, but MOST IMPORTANTLY--STORY! How important to you is the story in an anime series, and what are your favourites for having the best story and plot

I agree with you, plot is extremely important in what I choose to watch.
Sometimes I'm captured by a flashy or beautiful graphic, but if the story is not enough to capture my attention I stop to watch it

It matters to me a lot since most of the time, even when the characters are well drawn, if the story wouldn't get my attention, I would probably watch half-way of the series since it seems too predictable.
Best anime? I can't say much on anime but, I guess Monster of Naoki Urusawa since I have only read the manga. My friend says the anime is good and loyal to the manga. Anyway, the story really caught my attention so that goes for my vote on one among the best story and plot ^_^

Awesome! I agree with you 100% I'm glad you brought up the matter of artwork.
One of the most beautifully drawn and styled animes I've ever seen in Hell Girl. It tells the story of Ai, a girl who's purpose in life to exact revenge on behalf of the tormented. She is contacted via a website call Hell Correspondence which can only be accessed at 12:00 midnight.
The person wanting to exact revenge enters the name of the person they want sent to Hell and Ai will come to them and make a covenant, sealed by a mark on the person's chest.
This is an immensely beautiful anime with great depth, colour, shading, and animation, but the story is very repetitive.
It is virtually the same episode over and over again.
Thank you for your insights.

Very true. The nature of such shows is often too brash and forward to fit into the basic TV line-up.

yeah, i guess so. if the teaser plot sucks then i guess that speaks for the anime in totality as well. it is important to come up with a good and catchy plot to be able to entice viewers so i guess that counts. lol.
wei??? i cant understand me. hahahaha
bottom line: it doean't matter if it is really good in storyline as long as it keeps me entertained.

well, you can tell just by watching anime, with a poor storyline. its sucks and boring, so predictable indeed. and even if it was well drawn but the thing is, story drives the audience to appreciate the anime.

For me it's very important that the plot or the story of an anime is interesting. It's one of the aspect that I usually look along with character development when I watch anything included anime. As for the anime that I think one of the best plot that I watched is Bleach.
