I just had a relative of mine whom I had no idea existed get ahold of me through a another site that I belonged to. How cool is that? She is my age and I don't know how exactly she looked me up on the site, but she sent me an email. Anyway, have you ever found a lost lost friend or relative through an internet site or had someone get ahold of you?

that is crazy! I would be skeptical I think. I have trust issues with people maybe, lol. Though I do have a huge family so it's possible there are relatives I don't even know...especially now as me & my 35 cousins are getting older & having kids of our own. Both my parents came from big families - my dad 1 of 7 kids!

My family originated from France and when they migrated to the United States they changed our name to a certain degree. Anyone with that last name is related to me. And most of them are living in Minneapolis, Minnesota where this email came from, so no, I am not doubting of it, although I understand what you are saying.

I emailed her back immediately, but haven't had a second email yet.

I think that is awesome. I know... on myspace you just have to type in their name.
I have looked up many! Actually I found my biological mom on line. Something I think everyone should do!

That would be wonderful - but I haven't had such luck. I hope that this blossoms for you. It is really quite exciting. There's someone on here that I am starting to think must be related. We seem to both have very similar life experiences at about the same time. But she's from Tennessee (I think) and I can barely spell it, let alone have any relations there!!

I found a cousin I did not know existed through the internet and we kept up a really lively email conversation but now in the past two months she has not emailed me and I have sent numerous emails to her asking if I had said something to offend her or if she was ill and never got an answer this really hurts as I can come to enjoy her emails so much I do have her snail mail addy so am going to have to write to her as I am so afraid something has happened to her. She is younger than I am but you never know I had thought it might be something serious I never got my emails back so guess they did go through.I have never met her in person but would love to do so that is if I can find her again.

That would be sad, to have found someone and then lose them again. I hope you are able to get back in touch and that your cousin is ok.

Wow, how cool? But I have to ask too, are you sure this person is legit? If you had no idea they existed, how do you know they really do? (Did that make sense? LOL).
I was a member of a Marine related website for a good while and found several people that I had served with over the years, but that's it.

I have had relatives get in touch with me through my email, after posting on message boards in the ancestry sections. It was wonderfull to hear from them and ask questions about family. Some have sent me old pictures of family I other wise would have never seen. It was great.

I was searching a few years back now on Friends Reunited for a very special friend of mine from way back in Primary school, I know a lot of water has gone under the bridge since them, but I am curious to find out how he got on, he went to a different Secondary school from me. We were very close, anyhow I managed to find him, but his sister responded on his behalf to say he got married and to apologize that he hadn't got back to me but would, sadly he never did, so I decided to let it go, least he was happily married. Sometimes it's best not to go back to old friendships as time has changed.

Yes I have found a few long lost school friends through a site called bebo.com. It's great, we keep in contact regularly now and the last time I was back in New Zealand (two years ago) a group of us got together over dinner and a catchup. It was great! I am glad I joined that site!
