I have recently been as sick as a dog with sinisitus and bronchitis, I'm still battling to shake it! My 6 year old little boy started yesterday with a cough. He was a prem baby and has always suffered with weak lungs so the first thing I did was rush off and get him an antibiotic. I know this is not the ideal way to cope with childrens illnesses as I have been told many times that their bodies need to build up an immunity and antibiotics defeat this - I have just learnt over the years that when it is his chest it develops into pneumonia so quickly. How do you treat your children's coughs and other illnesses? Are you a believer in anticiotics or do you believe that illnesses should just be llowed to run their course?

depending on the illness a child can be treated in many ways.
If its a simple cold, fluids some good healthy meals and lots of orange slices and stay in bed.
If its worse than a cold, see a doc and follow their instructions.
Some ailements you don't need meds for.

I totally agree on that one. The minute I got sick I upped his dose of Vitamin C and started giving him home made fruit juices. I give him vitamins every morning and he loves his fruit and veg so he is generally very healthy. That's why, even after all my efforts, when he started to cough I thought an antibiotic was necessary. Thanks for your reply!
