My computer was affected with virus today..

Friends, last night i was clicking on a ad in the ptc site,no-minimum, and suddenly my pc alerted me that you are opening the dangerous site and advised me to close it, which i did so immediately. Today i did run the Scan, I use Trend Micros online virusscanner and it found four viruses. They could not be removed or quarantined.. The name of the viruses i read is as under JAVA_BYTEVER.A JAVA_BYTEVER.AB JAVA_BYTEVER.C Java_Bytever.A1 Immediately i google searched with the virus names and i noticed some forums that specialise in it.. i logged in them and viewed.. but i could not understand the logics discussed there.. as i dont have the programing or software skills as required to communicate in the forum. This Virus has lead me into a worrisome mood.. how could i remove the virus..Will it cause damage to the hardware part of the pc or will pose problems something different. Friends, Any ideas as how to tackle this problem. Suggest me please.

Hi Mvpriyank.. I went online in ewido.net and scanned my computer. ewido 4.0 is now called as AVG 7.5 version, which i did run,...like you said.. there were some 28 other virus and tracking cookies of various risks, ranging from medium to high.. and this AVG caught all these things and cleaned off..The thing is it works for Vista, the operating system that i use. And so my BR to you.. ..

yes, i use avg. the reason i left norton and mcafee is just for the simple fact that they slow down your computer too much! i don't like that. I switched to AVG and been using it for years now. its light on your computer and wont slow it down

yes the AVG is still available and free and it works really wellto get the virus out .I am so glad I have it on mycomputer as its saved me a lot of headaches. It gets right to the source gets the virus and either deletes it. cleans it. or puts it in quarantine.

I do not know what others would suggest you. If I were you, I would have made partitions in the harddisk and pushed all important files to specified disk other than system a disk in which system files are kept. Secondly, I would have tried all possible ways of removing the virus, and if it is not successful, I would have reloaded the entire windows programme afresh with Mcafe/avg or some useful virus. Thirdly I wouldnot open any emails which I am not associated. Most of the unsolicited emails carry the virus and I would terminate before they are opened. Foruthly everyday I would put the system on scan. These are a few tips to weed out the virus and prevent further damages.

the quickestthing for you to do seeing you are like me about virus removal is to load AVG onto your machine and it will zoon onto the virus at once and will either delete it. or clean it or else if it cannot do that it will quarantine the virus in the vault where it cannnot infect your computer. I have AVG and it has saved me a lot of headaches its free also.

Hello dear friend. I am so sorry to know that your computer got infected last night, but I am sorry to say that I am not a computer expert and cannot help to get the viruses deleted. I have to say that mine is also infected a week ago, but I think that the viruses are still with my computer as sometimes it makes my computer work very slowly and even I have tried to reinstall it again and again, it seems to be still there. Sometimes it works ok, but sometimes it drags my computer speed, so annoying. Usually the only way I get the viruses in my computer removed is to take it to my computer guy to have the windows xp system reinstalled. I hope that you will find a good way for this problem. Good luck.

first don't believe everything you see. If your computer is working normally and has no virus alerts from your virus software it is most like a scare to get to purchase a virus software. If you want to search those signatures go to mircosoft search, or the virus software website that you use. And send an email or call them directly and they will tell you in person about the files and if they are real or not. cbiznetz

I am definitely not computer savvy so if that happened to me I would be heading for Best Buy to have the "Geek Squad" take care of the problem for me.

I hope my now that you have received a response to this. What anti virus program do you use? Will it not get rid of this virus? Here is a tech support forum that may have ideas on how to remove this virus, if you join: http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/hijackthis-log-help/resolved-hjt-threads/41142-how-remove-java_bytever-java_bytever-c.html

best i could think of is for you to use a different anti-virus, you can try avg for free. and if you liked it you can purchase it. as for your hardware, nothing to worry as i do not know any virus that can affect hardware, as for your files.... you may want to back them up.

Earlier i was using Norton, and as i felt that the processing speed was slow , i switched over to this one. Is AVG a better choice than this. What is your opinion? Do you use AVG.. Thanks for sharing Comarade. Have a great time:)

Well, here's what I do.... If my anti-virus can't delete the virus I just search it manually (using path provided on dearch results) and delete it manually. if I still have an error I change the name of the infected file and delete it then. It usually works;)

Is your antivirus updated with the latest definitions.I don't think so it would damage the hardware in the system.try using avira antivir antivirus and then see if the virus gets removed from your system.you can download the antivirus at www.filehippo.com

You sound like me. when I got a virus I got my computer nerd son to help me out as he knows all the ins and outs of virus removal. one thing you should do if you have not already done that is get a good virus protection for your computer. there are a number of them available and all you need to do is get a friend who is computer savvy to put a virus protection thing on your computer. also ask your computer literate friend to help you to get rid of the virus on your computer as soon as possible. I know that real computer nerd friends love to do that kind of thing so you won't have any problem getting them to rid your machine of the virus.

Hately comrade.. thank you for showing me a great deal of interest.. and it is really laudable attitude that you possess..Actually i have in my system TrendMicro PC-cillin, Virus scanner, but this one fails to remove the same, and to give update on my computer i have the problem resolved by running the ewido.net software. Take care friend.

it depends on how strong the virus is and how your anti virus react to that virus. you should not open that site. oeping sites that are prawn of virus is very dangerous to your unit but if you have the best antivirus then you need not to worry.
