This can be a serious addiction. When I first got on the internet back in 1999 I downloaded something called ICQ. Once I started playing on it, I couldn't stop. I was a single mom at the time and was talking to guys all over the world! I had 6 marriage proposals (one of which I actually took up lol) and several on line "relationships" but the only problem was, I was addicted to it. I mean bad addiction. I would sit on the computer for over 8 hours a day. My back would ache, my leg would hurt and nothing would get done. I would race home from my part time job, throw off my coat and go right to the computer. I would get up at 5 a.m. and jump on it.....man, I felt nuts. I could hardly perform anything normal any more. Has anyone else been through this?

Yeah. Nothing in my assignment and project list was done at the time when I was mostly addicted with the Internet. When I was younger, for about 12 years old, I started to chat through Yahoo! Messenger. I was engrossed and addicted to it. I joined a clan and it made addiction much more delving into. Then, I started web designing and that made me much more of an abnormal addict! Every after class, instead of changing my clothes, I'll go straight to the computer and web design. I don't know how this kind of addiction got through me since I'm a pretty disciplined child. I guess we can't really control ourselves since this kind of thing is our passion. :)

Yes, I have been addicted to the Internet. Heck, I am still addicted to it even now LOL, but I am not as addicted to it like I was when I had my first computer that had Internet access a few years ago. However, I still enjoy checking my emails on a daily basis, though if I miss a day I won't have a panic attack because of it. LOL And of course I have to mylot! I can't forget about that! ;) LOL

I guess a lot of people have been addicted to the internet at one form or another. I did use ICQ and even IRC, before. I had to be on it every chance I get, but not really waking up really early just to get on it. I know that the internet is quite addicting, but I never really came to a point where I don't function well anymore. I am still conscious of what I had to do.

I use to be at one stage in my life (many years ago) and pretty much did what you did. Go to work, come on after work until early hours of the morning, then repeat it the next day for months on end. I stopped when I met my husband online. No more after that.
I have heard of some more serious addictions to the internet and what people would do just to get online especially in the chat sites. I'm glad I no longer do that.
I just come onto mylot and a few networking places and thats it. If I get bored or tired, I take break.

Not as bad as you describe, but I am pretty obsessed with myLot. I manage to get what needs to be done, done. But I am never far away from the screen and I often think about what might be happening when I am away. Now assuming that we agree that myLot is on the internet, then I think that I must be pretty addicted. LOL. My daughter is coming for 3 weeks soon. She has suggested that we go hiking for a few days at our other house. We don't have an internet connection, whatever shall I do?

One time or another I've been through that kind of addiction. I had this game installed in my laptop by my previous collegue and given me cheat tips. I was so addicted and obsessed to reach the last level that even during my lunch time, I was playing that game and forgot totally to eat. At present I am not so quite addicted with blogging, yet i make sure to make an entry as possible as i can. Maybe for the coming days i will be hook up to this site and would possibly lead to addiction.
