Why do people feel the need to be cruel to others?

By that, I'm asking why people are intolerant of those different than they are? It goes through history that a group feels the need to beat up on the little guy...honestly, if one sat down and thought about it, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSE! Why can't people just enjoy those differences? It makes life more interesting!

I've often wondered this myself...how many lives have been ruined because of religious wars or gangs rivaling or two countries can't seem to agree on a policy. I don't have an answer for this question, but life would be a lot less dangerous if people did this!

Yes, I agree. I live 13 miles outside Philadelphia, PA and about 20 minutes north of Camden, NJ (once considered the most dangerous city in America)--I get to watch the tragedies every night on the news. Sometimes I think Rodney King had it right when he said, "Can't we just all get along?"
What's sadder are that children are taught to hate--they learn it from someone else (whether or not it's a parent or family member). They often end up the biggest victims of all.

we have discussed the situation its cause and effect..however we cant do much about it...still i would like to share what i do sometimes...
we might not know who when and where is upset and is on the verge of commiting an action of hate...but we can send our prayers and wishes.
Just whenever you get a few moments while driving or dining or watching television...just pray that there be peace that whoeveris inpain is finding solace and if all the people who really wish peace will do that the vibrations will surely change.
share those books and music with others that promote peace and give guidance who knows a gift from you might help someone learn a little lesson.

I agree! "why can't we all just along." LOL...
Seriously, it doesn't take much to let things go and be nice. If we all did it, this world will certainly be a better place to live in!
