I have become fascinated by the possibility of time travel BUT MY Astro physics lecturer insists its just not possible. I so wish it was [possible and i guess im wanting someone to tell me why it can never be?

I don't believe time travel will ever be possible for three simple facts. Fact #1. What happened in the past already happened. If you could travel back in time then you have to believe in multiple dimensions meaning that every decision you ever could have made changes the course of the rest of your life and certain decisions that other people make alter the course of the rest of your life. The amount of dimensions would be astronomical. Fact #2 The future has not happened yet. If you can travel back in time then you could travel forward in time. If time travel were possible then every thing that you are going to do is already predestined and the multiple dimensions would have to extend to infinity for every person that would ever be born. Fact #3 God made the rules. He is the only one who can see everything in every possibly circumstance to the end of time.

i am interested in 3, what scientific evidence is there for god?

yes yes yes you ask a lot of questions, i agree we dont have answers, but where is the evidence of god? unless of course you equate god with human ignorence?

#1 Where did everything come from. There are only a few possibilities. Every thing that is, came into existence from nothing! Everything that is in existence was always there. Everything in existence was created. #2 Every explosion starts of at zero speed then almost immediately reaches its max speed and then begins to slow down to a stop, Except the universe. It reached its max speed A long time ago an yet it continues to advance in speed as it grows. not only is it advancing but with increased speed as it does. How is this possible? #3 Some of the simplest organisms are more complex then the any machinery man has created. Did they just appear as they are? If they evolved then What did all the part do when they were not together? If you take a motor apart each piece of it will lie on the table into oblivion they will never assemble themselves into a working motor. Someone like a creator has to come by and assemble the parts and apply the power. #4 .....there is a lot of evidence for god just look around. The heavens declare the glory of god.

Time travel is possible, Einstines general relitivity shows this by high gravitaional time deliniation

i have heard of this before, but i thought it had been sucessfully challenged subsequently?

Time deliniation has been proven by gravity. One scientist is now working on time travel useing gravitaional forces and hypoyhosises that maybe one can go back in time if there is a marker, that is I can't travel back in time unless I have placed a marker there. But if I were to set a marker today, then next week or next year I can come back to this time. He has shown a conning efect in time fabric, That is to say if time is a matress and you put a bowling ball in the center of the bed, then it will couse a cone to form and the bend is gravity pulling mass toward it. As mass gets closer the gravity destorts time from the mass aoutside the cone. To the observer outside time slows down while relitivly the mas inside the influince of the gravity exsperiances no diference in preseption of time. If on was to put a marker somewhere betwenn the pull of where time was and where it had been then the mass could be pulled back from the coneing. Like wise if one was to live near this singularity then the persons age would be effected as well. One could be "emortal". or at least live a very long time compared to the faster time here on earth. The center of our galixicy is a large black hole, as you go nearer to the center you would exsperiance this time deliniation, the closer you get the slower time would move. Not only would this strong gravity keep light from exscaping byt possible time itself would stop. If you were to travel there and return in a few hundread years to earth, you would see an earth that had aged thousands of years.

I guess that doesn't solve the whole time travel mystery as it only affects the person involved in the time travel sequence. Also, it's not exactly "travelling back in time".. it's merely slowing down a person's internal clock/aging process. Everyone and everything else are all going through the continuity of time.

Time travel in a lot of ways would be interesting for sure. It would be nice to go back and see what time was like during some of the great movements in History, or get a chance to meet some of the Great leaders of this country. Wonder how come it has never been attempted to consider with all of the movies and TV shows out there that have done this?

The problem with your physics professor is that he/she has been educated in "Einsteinian Space" as we now know it. Any good mathematician or quantum physicist will tell you it appears this system of time/space laws we have been studying for years does not seem to be all that exists in the vast universe. I doubt time travel exists in the traditional Sci-Fi sense, but to say it is impossible seems a bit premature, so to speak.

Einstein believed in time travel. The only way to achieve it, according to him is to make a worm hole by placing two planets over black holes, then twist the worm hole for how much time you want, then enter it and hope you don't get torn apart. oh there's also the part about when you will exit and will you be able to get back?

If all is one, all is now. The past is no more, the future isn't yet. But that's all obeying the laws of this rational, relative worlds of opposites. Time, is thought to be an illusion, therefore if one is able to travel through time, one is able to travel through illusions, which because they are created in the mind and imagination, would be possible. Would it not be more spiritually favourable to turn from illusion into reality, where there is no such thing as time. The now, as soon as it is recognised is gone, therefore is no more, therefore another illusion. All this work in astro-physics and in the relative sciences, just keep taking us around in circles. Our problems have never really been solved in this "reasonable" way, just replaced. Sometimes I feel like I am treading water, no... more like quicksand! LOL

Thank you! I simply share my insights, but if you can learn something then I am delighted that my sharing proves to be of some value. Teacher and student often change places - I learn something from sharing, so I am becoming the student - and then eventually both teacher and student disappear and there is just the flow of universal energy and knowledge. We each already know, it's just that we've forgotten that we know. :-)

I have experienced a slowing down or speeding up of time which I call my time warps as one afternoon I achieved so much in the two hours that my little boy was at nursery and even when I looked at my watch it still wasn't time to collect him, it was almost like I had been given an extra couple of hours somewhere. I would love there to be a possibilty of it too but here you are actually asking for proof why it can never be, I can't help with that one sorry. Ellie :D

This is only A perception of time Flies perceive time in a much slower form then we do. this is why it is so hard to catch them. Its all about how many points on the time line your brain can process at a given time. The more nano seconds you can process the slower you will perceive time. thus making an hour seem like two. But in reality it was still only an hour.

I wish it was possible too. I would love to go back to the time of the dinosaurs, watch them as well as all the meteors crashing into Earth, how the dinosaurs became extinct. That would be a spectacular show hehe.

Hi ESKARENA1, I'm not at all sure that it is impossible. There is so much that we do not know. Just think of all the things we do today that would have been called impossible, a few years ago. Blessings.

Something that has struck me is how dramatic the changes between 1900 and 1920 were, we have no reason to suggest the next 20 years will be any less dramatic blessed be
