Promoting Squidoo, a question for my fellow squids

How on earth can you belong to the squidoo group here on mylot and promote squidoo if you dont even have a link or banner on your profile or your website?? I see alot of discussions on squidoo where someone is asking about "what is squidoo". Although they are doing their best to describe squidoo to the new person, why not make it easy for them and just put a banner on your profile? Squidoo has tons of banners that are easy to use.
Though I addressed this question to squidoo fans, I guess it can also apply to ANY program you are promoting. This also cuts down on the deleted posts with referal links. Just point them to your mylot profile AND make it simple!

I have not read the responses on this thread.
However I didn't know that Squidoo has banners!
Thanks for mentioning this.
I will try to find their banners.

Go to the very bottom of any page on squidoo. Look under lensmaster tools/spread the word. Yeah its kinda hidden but they have great banners.

First off I love squidoo and its underlying concept. I will however see if I can answer your question.
Belonging to a group means you enjoy it. This doesn't mean you want to promote it.
Referring someone to your profile and then a banner is very impersonal in my opinion and its much easier to just give a quick overview and then answer any specific questions they still have.
I have squidoo as an interest here because I do enjoy it and like reading tips from other squids yourself inluded. I don't actively promote any program until I have personally been paid by it and even then I am selective in who I refer. Its much better to get a few really active refs than 100's of inactive refs. I take the time to explain, in detail, why I like the program and then make sure the other person understands it. This is why I don't have any banners and links on my profile.
Things that are painfully "obvious" are sometimes just false assumptions. Personally I believe you could've stated your discussion in a much more constructive and less condescending way.

You may be right in your last sentence. I tend to be quite frank in how I speak so there is no confusion. I dont like BS people because I dont like it done to me. I did not mean to be condescending. If you have seen most of my posts regarding squidoo they are very detailed depending on what the question asked. I only refer others to my banner as a quick link and thats always after my explanation.
People who own squidoo lens are there for a reason, to promote their lens, be it for money or another cause. There is no point in having a squidoo lens if nobody sees it. So if you join the group Squidoo I believe you either own a lens or you are thinking about owning a lens. Other groups have other motives. Otherwise how can you enjoy something (squidoo group) you know nothing about. When you enjoy something a great deal and your enthusiasm comes across, thats promotions, whether intentiional or unintentional. Thanks for your comment.
