When did you get your ears pierced?

Do you have your ears pierced? How old were you when you had them done? I was 6 years old. I still wear the studs now that I had them done with. My friend was soe xcited when her parents finally allowed her to have hers done when she was in grade 9- that's when she was 14 years old! I personally prefer studs and sleepers, I don't think dangly earrings suit me. So when did you get yours done and what kind of earrings do you prefer?

I was an adult, sort of. It was the day my new husband and I had our first quarrel and I stormed out angry and decided to get even with him by getting my ears pierced. In my culture that was sort of a no-no, and I thought he'd be mad, but for me it was a way of asserting my independence. When I got home he noticed right away and gave me a huge hug and said "I was SO hoping you would do that!" In his culture all women got their ears pierced at a young age and he didn't understand why I hadn't had it done then. It was like the adult thing to do. Obviously we came from different backgrounds. Hoops are OK, but I prefer the studs. I don't like getting tangled up in stuff, so the dangly ones are out. I like gold earrings with semi-precious gemstones such as amethyst.

I was pierce a few months after I was born, so I didn't have a choice on the matter. Here, it is fine to get your ears pierced even if you're not even a year old. I believe I had a stud back then, but now I usually wear hoops.

I had mine pieced when I was only days old. I got my daughters pierced when she was only a couple of months old. I have found that the sooner you get it done the less problems you have. My favorite earings are the dangly ones.

I first had mine done when I was 13 - my brother and sister in law had them done for my birthday. I had them done again when I was about 17 and used to wear 2 pairs all the time now however if I wear earrings at all they end up sore and I get a small lump in my ear so I never wear them! My daughter is desperate to get hers done but she has to be at least 7 (another year to go) and considering Dad started off saying that she had to be 35 before she got them done that isn't too bad! lol xxx

yes i have piercings on both ears. i had the first one done when i was 14 years old. i had begged my mother for years before she finally agree to let me pierce my ears. a few years later, i added two more piercings on my left ear. however, the third piercing hole had closed as i injured my ear lobe during a roller-coaster ride. now i don't wear earrings at all as i find it troublesome to take them out when i sleep. cheers ;p

My parents were firm believers of waiting to get my ears pierced untill they felt I could take responsibility of it myself; clean them myself and be prepared to take care of them myself. They would never take a child to a jewelry store to get their ears pierced when they are little or even babies. If you end up not wanting them when you are older there is no way these little holes are closing, that's why they pierce ears on young children; because the holes won't close that easily again. I can't understand why people make a big fuss when a 16 year old gets a piercing but it's ok for a baby or a 4 year old that doesn't have an idea what people are doing to them, to pierce their ears that will never close up again? And are in straight sight, unlike a belly button piercing. I had my ears pierced when I was 15, got an eyebrow piercing after a year of pondering when I was 18 (unfortunatly it grew out) and a belly button ring when I was 19. I was satisfied and happy with all of them, and still am with the once I have today .

I believe I got the first piercings done at about the age of 12 as a birthday present. I remember my uncle telling me that I was mutilating my body and to not have them done. I wish I had listened better. I got the second piercings when I was 16. I have not worn earrings in a good 15-20 years.

My parents would not allow me to have my ears pierced until I was 12 years old, I think. I have gone through different phases throughout my life about earrings and at the present time I don't even wear them unless I am dressing to go somewhere special and then I might find some to wear. They usually are not all that fancy and I would like to buy myself some diamond studs but never have.

I was 17 when I got my ears pierced. My Mom and I went together to have our ears pierced, which I really liked. I have a stud in the extra hole in my left ear, and ear clips/cuffs over the middle of my left ear, but for the two original piercings I prefer dangle earrings. I like how they feel when I move and how they look on me.

I did it when I was 6 years old too. It was done in my medical clinic by a doctor. It was a good experience. There are no pain and discomfort. When I was younger, I used to wear my studs every day. However, as I grew older, I stopped wearing. I only wear it once in a blue moon. I have many nice dangling earrings. I love to buy them but I hardly wear them

I always wanted my ears pierced but my parents wouldn't allow it. So I never got them pierced till I was an adult, around 20 years old. I was so happy to get them done, finally. But I didn't go to a ear piecing place or anywhere like that. I had a friend do them for me with a needle and thread. I had a few alchoholic drinks and then we froze my ears with ice, not really well I might add, and then we heated the needle and then she pierced them. I guess when I was younger I was braver because I sure wouldn't do it that way now. I was lucky I never got any infections or anything. I cleaned them constantly with rubbing alchohol and I did well with them. Within about 2 weeks I was able to take out the thread and put in earings. I don't wear any earings for the last couple years, I guess I should try to put a pair on because maybe my holes have closed.

In grade school all my friends had pierced ears. I asked to have mine pierced but my mother held off. When my grade 7 teacher threatened to fail me my mother said she would get my ears pierced WHEN I passed grade 7, which I did. And I did get them pierced then. However, I had lots of problems. I was afraid to change my earrings and had to wait until the weekend when my sister came home so she could help me change them. I ended out with lots of swelling, puss and crustiness because of it. My oldest daughter got hers pierced when she was 11. I then decided that my younger daughter couldn't get hers done until she was 11. She is a real tomboy though and so when she turned 11 she didn't really want her ears pierced right away. But eventually she did. She has had nothing but problems ever since with puss and crustiness and trouble getting earrings in and out (like mother, like daughter). I think she has finally gotten things under control but as her sister, 14, said, she wasn't old enough to have her ears pierced and look after them. I never had to help my older daughter with her ears. It surprises me when I see infants with their ears pierced. I don't understand why people do it. Furthermore, I don't know how those babies don't pull at those earrings. Our neighbours' kids had their ears pierced as infants (they are 9 and 10 now). One of them ended out letting hers grow closed. I only wear earrings now when I am dressing up, which means I rarely wear them. I can't sleep with earrings in - they dig into the side of my head behind my ear. I do wear them at least once a week (when I go to church). My oldest daughter wears them all the time, sleeps in them too, and wears all sorts of different kinds. She likes big hoops. I like to wear bigger earrings because my ears are covered by my hair so if I want them to be seen they need to be bigger.

I had mine done at 12, when I asked to have them done. now I rarely wear earrings, but the holes never close up properly, I can always get earrings in when I want to, although it's sometimes tricky. when I do wear them, they're usualy dangly ones. I normally choose to wear them to go with other jewellery I'm wearing, or if I'm wearing my hair up.

Not a couch potato - for he works outside when he can and isn't in a lot of pain which is rarely.
It was one week before my thirteenth birthday when I got my ears pierced. The first one hurt like hell!! and my mom asked if I wanted the other one done and I had to think about it. lol but yeah I got it done too and then later on in life I got another set done so now I have two holes in each ear which is enough for me. I like small danity earrings, or small hang downs but not the heavy or big ones. The second hole I wear little gold balls to kind of dress up the other ones. I'm not an attention getter so I don't wear things that will grab others attention. lol

My mum let me have mine done for my 13th birthday, I was way behind everyone else and I hated that I was not allowed! I was so excited when my mum took me, my dad said I bet you cry, I didnt though one of my eyes watered. I love earrings, I love hoop earrings, not massive ones but medium sized ones, and I love sparkly ones. Im a bit of a magpie when it comes to sparkly jewellery though, if it sparkles I have to have it! My boys wanted their ears pierced last year, so they were 6 and 5 when they had theirs done and my eldest boy was just 4! I have a little girl who is 2 now and I really really wanted to have hers done when she was 1, but I didnt think it was fair to take the choice from her, the boys all asked to have theirs done so its only fair she gets the choice to decide for herself if she wants them done.

I have mine when I was a baby because as I grew up I am aware that I have my ears pierced and I can have earrings. It's typical here in the Philippines to have newborn babies especially if it's a female to have their ears pierced at a young age.
