Do you freshen your home with glade plugins, scented candles,Febreeze,or air fresheners in a can or pump? What is your favorite brand? Does it take the mustyness of smoking and food odors away? I am looking for a good brand to take my husbands musty stale cigarette smell out of our home and the cooking odors. But mostly that musty stale smell. I have tried alot of different things and so far they just cover the scent for a few minutes but after a while I notice the mustyness again. I have tried Febreeze and lysol spray and tons of plugins and sprays and even candles but nothing seems to work. Have you found something that does? Let me know.

A local sells them at her shop... I dont have any laying around or else I would share but they have this one great scent...orange and chili peppper.....YUM!

Being a smoker and a candle distributor, I use my Mia Bella Gourmet Candles. They are great smelling and long burning. We also sell electric simmer pots along with melts (tarts). One of our most popular scents is Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper. We have over 80 scent sational fragrances. If you are interested you can visit my website at www.cb1960.scent-team.com

More now than ever I have been using candles with a base of soy to get a different smell in my place. Right now I have lighted my big Cotton Clouds scented candle. As for spray, Febreze works well, but currently I am using Ocean Side room spray. It smells less like I'm trying to cover the smell of something.

Today is actually better then it has been about 45 today. But he won't go outside just to smoke. I wish he would I have asked him several times he won't though. He said that would make him sick going in and out so much. maybe since he has started to back to work atleast for a few days the smell won't be so strong. I was my curtains monthly I figured if I did them any more they fall apart since they are satin and lace. It does get frustrating sometimes especially when we get company and the house smells musty. It probably turns visitors off of visiting more often. Our trash can stays outside to help keep oders down more.

That has got to be frustrating. I don't suppose he can smoke outside more often? Of course I have no idea what the weather is like where you are. Today our weather is going to be around 66 degrees, and mostly sunny. But other places I know are snowing.

I don't know what it is called but it comes in a can at canadian tire, it locks like a can of wax but it is grey and reminds me of spinach and the brain.
it eats out all the smoke from the house, go to the your hardware store they should have it there.

I think my favorite air freshener is actually fresh air, on a slightly breezy day - openning up the windows and doors to let the air flow through is so - um reFRESHing! and quite affordable a solution to musty musky odors.
other than that I think cleansing with a vinegar infused water is great to neutralize odors.

I burn fragrance oils. My favorites are Drakkar Noir and Cool Water. I put a burner in the living room and the entire bottom flood smells plesant. I also use a lot of lysol spray. Everything smells fresher! I've found these to work best for me.

Hello di1159,I have tried the oils before in a little difuser that heats up, but haven't in awhile. It worked while it was on but after an hour it wafted away or maybe we got so used to the scent we couldn't smell it anymore. Well thanks for responding appreciate it. I haven't tried those scents though. I always tried the apple, cinnamon, and orange.

Hey cousin, Hope you are doing good today. They are some great air fresheners for 99 cents but smoke is so hard to cover up. and so is onions we use alot of onions and garlic. My husband puts our trash can outside even to help keep odors down some. I need to clear out some of my closets also they tend to make stuff smell musty as well. I love the plugins for the bathrooms and they work in there because they are so tiny(the bathrooms). I found one about 6 months ago that worked well in ktaking the odors away for up to a whole hour after spraying it and it cost $1.50 but would you believe I forgot what brand it was and My husband throwed the can away as soon aas it was empty so I couldn't check.(garbage man carted it away) Well, have a good day posting and I appreciate that you responded to my discussion. Thanks.

We always use insence. We have a lot of different ones with all different smells. We prefer the ones made in China etc., the smell better and are more naturall.
The fresheners and scented candles are smelling to syntetic (is that the right English word???) for me.

I love using incense. I bought a few boxes of lavender and liked it, but my husband didn't he said all I was doing was making it smell like smoke worse. So I only use them occasionally now. Thanks for responding to my discussion I appreciate it have a good day of posting. Maybe the ones made in china are made with the oils instead of the synthetic stuff some scented companies use. maybe I should try to find some maybe they might work better. The ones I do have the smell of the smoke overpowers the scent alot and you can barely smell it.

I use Febreeze filter fans as well as the air effects stuff to make my apartment smell nice. I also have incense I burn occasionally to make it smell cozier and less like a fake perfume that can be over bearing.

Hello MrNiceGuy, I guess I will have to check out these fans. The fans are the only thing I haven't tried. My husband doesn't like the insense because he says it burns his eyes and messes with his sinus andhe thinks they just add to the smoky smell. I like them and do buy them occasionally but don't get to burn them often as he doesn't like them. My mom gave me some strong scented candles from sha(red) but I found them a bit overpowering and couldn't burn them for long they gave me headaches.

We use Febreeze in a pump. We also use Nilodor in the bathroom and it does take away the smells. So why not try that. Have you tried opening the windows? I find that Nilodor is quite good as we sometimes something might fall out of the trashbag in the cupboard below the sink, or a bird might get caught in the chimney and we will have a smell until it burns up.
So get some Nilodor, put a drop or so on a napkin and after waving the napkin around, put it in the room where the smell is. It should help.

I use those airwick plug ins and they work great in my house. When I walk in it always smell so nice! However, it doesn't work on smoke or odors like that. I smoke outside so I don't smell that. The best thing to do for that is to open your windows and air out your house once or twice a week, keep any curtains you have washed frequently and there is a product on the market called Lord Byrons. It neutralizes the smoking odors. It is a very good product and I use it in my car to neutralize the odor. It does work. It has no overpowering scent either.

I used to have 4 to 5 plugins just for my kitchen living room with is an open area they flow into each other. I thought that they would help but as you said not with the smoking and other odors. i wish my husband would smoke outside. He does alot in the summer because he is out more often then in. But with these winter months he is afraid he will get sick because he has major sinus problems all year and gets sick easy. I will check out that product called Lord Bryons it is worth a try to have a better smelling house trailer.

Being a big smoker myself I find the best thing to get smoke smells out of the air is keeping the windows open even when it's snowing out. As for sprays I make my own using cheap fabric softner and water and I spray everything in sight.

I haven't thought of making a spray with fabric softener and water before. How much of each would I put in a spray bottle? Well, to the leaving the windows open I am afraid my husband would knock me over the head if I left them open. The only time they get opened is in warmer weather.

I use febreeze to freshen my home. I don't burn candels as I have a 4 year old I am afraid of burning the house down and most of those plugins my husband can't breathe them so I spray the air with febreeze a couple times a day.

Hello luvstochat, It seems alot of people use the Febreze to freshen their homes. It works for awhile but just doens't hold up for the big job of covering my husband smoking throughout the day and other musty stale scents our roof leaked something terrible it was so bad you had to play hop scoth with pans when it rained. It rained almost as much in as out and the rain caused alot of mold and musty smells though we have washed the walls several times it doens't help much and then their are the cooking smells to deal with. My husband couldn't breathe either he kept unpluging them alot..lol wel thanks for the response I appreciate it alot. Have a nice evening.
