I was wondering if I put up bird feeders, and if I put something out just for the squirrels in a different area, will they leave my bird feeders alone?
Thanks in advance.

You will have to deter the squirrels. They will eat what ever they want.
Maybe tying a cat to the bird feeder will keep them away. hehehe

I found that if you put Cayenne Pepper powder in the food that the squirrels don't like it yet, it doesn't seem to bothter the birds. Be careful though, don't sprinkle it is on a windy day. It tends to sting the eyes a bit. I learned that the hard way. What I do is dump some right into the bag of food when I buy it, shake it around and then it is always in the seed. My son informed me that birds don't have taste buds and that is why the pepper doesn't bother them.

I don't know that that would work. I know what does though. They sell bird feeders that don't cost much more that goes by weight. It even works to keep the black birds away. The perch or platform that the bird lands on to feed will give way if the animal is to heavy. I even have one that spins the squirrel off if it tries to feed. You can even by them at your local Wal*mart.
