Stop Calling Me!!!

There is a company that keeps calling me to tell me that I won a trip and I have told them (now 12 times!) to take my number off their calling list.. and they keep calling! outside of having my number changed, is there anything that I can do to make them STOP calling me? Have you ever had telemarketers drive you crazy? How did you get them to stop calling??

Hi hon. I think I have a great solution for you. It's called the Do Not Call Registry. You can register your landlines as well as your cell phones, and those pesky telemarketers won't be able to call your phones and aggravate the daylights out of you. Here's the link for the site: https://www.donotcall.gov/ I hope it helps. Hugs to you hon.

Somehow, some way, it works. But if one does manage to get through, hubby has all sorts of fun with them until they hang up on HIM. LOL! If only we could shove our fists through the phone lines to make good on our threats of bodily harm....that would show 'em! Hahahaha

That was one heck of a visual you just gave me! LOL! Just tell them "Me have no money!" and then hang up on them. It's pretty fun and satisfying to do that you know. Hahaha

OOOOHH!!!! Go to YouTube, search prank phone calls. I think it is the second one. Anyways a telemarketer calls and offer s the person a satellite or something, and he starts acting like he is a detective on the murder scene, and starts grilling the marketer about his whereabouts, how he knew the person...etc

LOL! I would do that but this guy doesn't understand English well enough to understand that he is a suspect for murder! LOL! good one!!!! love it! thanks for the laugh! :)

Here is the link to the government "do not call" registry. Since I filled it out I have not had one single call. It's great and really works. https://www.donotcall.gov/

I don't have the answer on how to get them to stop calling but I can tell you about my experience. Every day at 11:15am my phone would ring. I would look at my call display and it would show that an unknown number was calling. I would answer this and a recording would be heard saying that I won a trip, or something about ceptic service, or how to lower my interest on my credit card. I sure wished this would stop too!

hi, i can tell you a few things that i know about telemarketing. of course, ask the person to put you on their do not call list. usually, there is a little blurb that is read ("i will place you on the dnc, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. please allow 30 days for this to take effect") during those 30 days, you may get other phone calls, but you just need to tell them that you asked to be put on their do not call list. they should immediately terminate the call. as far as the dnc national registry goes, just remember, if you have an ebr (established business relationship) with a company, even if you are on the national dnc, they are still able to call. for example, if you have a credit card, that company can call you with any offers. hope this helps.

I have asked them 12 times now!!! and I don't get the blurb.. he doesn't stop telling me about the vacation that I've won that I don't want... until I get hateful.. and then he stops to say.. "I call only once you today!"... and yes!, he has only called once today... but he calls EVERY single DAY! I am not a hateful person in the least, I understand that these people are working for a living and I respect them and thank them for offering me their services (usually) then decline if I'm not interested.. I am the nicest person you would ever call until you refuse to listen to me when I am trying to speak... then my manners go out the window! this is NOT a credit card company.. it seems to be a travel agency .. but I can't be sure since we don't speak the same language. thanks for taking the time to explain how it works when the person on the other end understands when you ask them to leave you alone.

it doesn't sound to me like this is a legitmate telemarketing company with a legitimate offer. ask to speak with a supervisor. ask the supervisor to have your phone number physically removed from their dialer. (most legitimate telemarketing companies use a dialer-a machine that dials for the rep-and they can remove your phone number so at least that company will not call) if that is the case, remember, it is not the person on the phone who has made the decision to call you. they have no choice in who get's called. they are usually also required to give a number of rebuttals to your objections-usually not more than 2-and that's if you say you are not interested, not if you give specific objections-so make sure you only say you are not interested. but like i said, this doesn't sound like it's a legitimate company, or the rep is not doing their job properly. perhaps you should look into filing a complaint. hope this helps too!

Call the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Also go to http://donotcall.gov and list your phone numbers there. That website also had more information on what you can do to stop unwanted phone calls. Good Luck!

I have had the same thing happen, same company keeped calling after telling the person time after time i have already spoken to sombody from your company but you keep calling with the same thing, I told the person before you and the person before them the same thing Take me of your stupid list... My Mother in law says hang on a minuet and leaves the phone and walks off, my partner will either turn music on full or do something annoying to them... Our number is private but they still get it from somewhere... We have been sent an email once with a guy responding to a telemarketer by pretending he was a police investgator of a murger and interigates the telemarketer which is quiet funny.... They are so annoying they must get alot of mean people on the other end....

They are legally obligated to stop callign you if you ask them to take your number off the list. Next time they call try to record the number, and then when they phone you again, record that too. then you will have a case of harrassment! I just tell them i'm not interested and politely ask them to take me off the list. But i'm sure there is always a new list with my number already on it somewhere else, in some other call center.. those rotten pric.. people ;)

I was under the impression that once you ask them to remove your number from their call list that they had to.. but I don't know what you do when they don't stop after being asked. I haven't figured out how to get their number (since it showed up UNKNOWN on my id) until another person responded and suggested that I act like I am too busy to take the call and ask for the number..... I think that was a brilliant idea! you know, you are probably right! they probably have our numbers circulated to every call center in the world! lol!

Telemarketers don't stop.As long you are having a computer and internet they will always find you. However what you can do is just change your number. Our number is secret it's not in the phonebook and not on the internet. However sometimes when you do ciao surveys or that kind of things i think that is why they call you and find your number So my advice is don't do things like that anymore.I've seen that if i would fill in there questionairy i get called all the time

our number is unlisted as well.. but I know that internet search engines find out your info from other 'public' records (buying a home, inherited property, suing or been sued, etc.) and don't mind at all posting you private info and/or selling it to other's who are interested in talking to you by phone.

Telemarketers are so so very annoying! Up until a month ago my mom was dying (she has passed). I helped care for her but when I wasn't there, I ran each and every time the phone rang. If I was in the shower, I jumped out and slipped and slid to the phone. I also worked full time and so sleep was scarce. I often slept at odd times. If the phone rang, I'd instantly jump and run ....heart racing....I can not begin to tell you my irritation and equal relief to find it was another dam telemarketer. Caller ID's do help. Now that I'm not in that situation, I just do not pick up for them...still do go to the phone so it is an interuption. I personally have not been able to find an effective way to get rid of them. they all feel they are doing their job and they are right. It is like we owe them our time. I don't know. sometimes I feel mean because I don't welcome the intrusion. with all the laws that they create, I am surprised that soliciting has not been one of them. I have yet to meet even one person that in all honesty is ok with being solicited in t he privacy of their home either on the phone or at the door. Between my phone and the door, I sometimes feel like I need to find a place way up in the woods in order to get some peace and quiet in my own home.

Bless your heart! I am so sorry to hear about your mother! I know what you mean about killing yourself to get to the phone.. I have nearly fell getting out of the shower a million times.. to get to the phone... it never seems to ring unless I'm in the shower(I think they have radar!) lol! I'm with you on thinking of moving up in the woods for privacy, but with my luck the squirrels would take up selling nuts! lol!

The previous post explain to do not call list. Personally I like to mess with thier heads, tell them "Thanks for the reminder but you just claimed your free trip yesterday, so they can take you offf b/c it must be a douplicate. One time my infant son was crying because i had just put him down of the nap, i saw the number, i answered the phone but didnt say anything and just held it next to the crying baby.

Might be worth a try... ask if they can send a few cars instead of a trip or if you can send your kids on the trip...

I too had this problem, and for a while was having up to 2-3 calls a night. My way of dealing with them...... when I answered the phone and heard their long winded intro I blew a whistle down the phone as hard as I could they soon stopped calling!!

Actually, it doesn't matter how loud the whistle/airhorn is. With most phone companies, the phone line equipment adjusts the volume of excessively loud noise. It may startle the person, but it shouldn't deafen them unless their own phone's volume is turned up.

I'm sorry.. but I have to agree with Shellybean.. when you have told these people OVER and OVER and OVER AND OVER and it doesn't seem to sink in that you wish to be left alone!.. and they don't give up!.. it becomes more than just a little annoyance! next time, Shelly, buy a air horn! they are louder! and you won't have to waste your breath!

that is a really horrible thing to do to someone who is just trying to their job. you could have caused permanent ear damage to that person, over a little annoyance. you should be ashamed of yourself. that is a very unnecessary thing to do to. you could have just hung up the phone...

You have already been given the "Do Not Call List' so I won't go there. You have to remember that that just works for businesses. Charities are still allowed to call. I keep getting call from the local fire department and the Local Police charities. They can be as bad as the telemarketers. I'm on a fixes income so I can't give to them as they would want. They always say surly You can afford just $10.

well if they are so persistent, have you asked what you have won? hehe i mean it could be legit.. but of course knowing them.. it ain't true and there is half the side of the story... so have you called your trade and industry department to report this company that has been bugging you? i think you can report and can have their license revoked too right?

i use the "bar all incoming" feature of my phone, every phone has one just search for it in your "call settings" menu so that everytime he calls, just simply activate the feature. but you also would miss receiving text messages. and from my experience, if someone sends you a message during the time when you have barred all incoming calls and messages, you cant receive them at a later time, but that is network dependent though. if you use a sony ericcson phone (any model) they have a feature there that bars calls too, but not the msgs, so if you happen to own one, just go to the "settings" menu then choose the "calls" tab then choose "accept calls" and you can choose from "all callers", "only from list" or "none". hope this helped you.

I actually think they are breaking the law. And, while I don't know who you can contact about it, you can get them in trouble. I have had so many telemarketers drive me nutty. Mostly at my job. There are times when, if I know it is them, I will either just not answer or will pick up and hang up without saying a word. Perhaps, start screaming profanities at them. Or, repeat everything they say to you. Or, tell them that you line is now tapped and the police will be at their door as they have been tracing each one of their bothersome illegal calls since about the 6th time you told them to stop calling and to put you on their do not call list. Or, buy a whistle and blow it into the phone each and every time they call. If enough people go deaf over there, there won't be anyone who can make those calls!

As you have already heard you can be put on the do not call list. And if they keep calling after you are put on the list then the first time you tell them I am on the do not call list. They usually stop calling. My aunt always ask how did you get my number I pay for an unlisted number. that usually gets them. My sister inlaw keeps them on the phone for ever telling them how she has no friends cause she just got out of prison and would they be her friend and tries to get there phone number wants to know if they will be her friend. She really messes with them it is so funny to listen to her on the phone with them I think I will record it some time. LOL
