Generally I choose a book base on its content. I am interested in psychology and I will always look for these books in the library. I will be attracted by their titles and then I read the menu to check whether I want to read it. Sometimes after watching a movie, I will want to read the original novel too.

Hey, sorry to comment back that late. I have been away from mylot for a long time due to the time limitation. I am not sure whether I am a good thinker. I think I just want to know more about myself and others so that I can form a better relationship.

It was given to me by a very precious friend after she and her boyfriend finished reading it. And when I get to read this book, I then realized that this friend of mine is really concerned about me.. and I so love her.. :) I really enjoyed reading this book, now I thoroughly understand my real purpose of existence. :)

Many different things go into what makes me want to read a novel. I enjoy different types of books. I have a pile of books on my night stand waiting to be read some include Walden, The Visitation (a Christian novel), Purpose Driven Life, and a Bible Study on Revelations.

Usually it is the subject matter that makes me read a book. Either it pertains to a subject that is of interest to me or a subject that I am interested in learning more about. These days I am very interested in the arts (with dance being my specialty), and that is an interest that will stay at the top of my list forever. I am also interested in books focusing on old New Orleans (especially those with emphasis on the German population as that is where my family originated in this country), American History (I especially like the victorious war stories and the reading about the Founding Fathers and historical documents), and scientific studies of the afterlife. I am also big on genealogy and I like poetry a lot - Tennyson and Goethe are my favorites.

I like to read books by an author named Jodi Picoult. She writes stories that are fiction, and the characters always face a big decision, usually a life changing decision based on morals. Excellent books!

you must really enjoy fictions anyway as long as you get a good message out of it ithink it makes lots of sense, especially the issue of having to make life changing decisions that you mentioned

I like self-help books, or the ones that are inspiring and heartwarming. The author's writing style is one significant factor for me. I'm a fan of Paulo Coelho, he can make even the simplest principle into something that is truly moving.
I also like to read magazines, ones that tackle business or fashion. I basically like to read almost anything, but that doesn't mean I like everything I read. I have the tendency to be a critic when I read, I sometimes come across articles that are common and ordinary. Whenever I get to read something that is really good, I take note of the author's name, then, I try to find something written by him/her.

the book covers sometimes attracts one to want to read but sometimes you get dissappointed by the metthod of delivery by the author you are in order to read the summary first before deciding to read,as for me if the first two pages does not attract me too bad its bye i move on to the next book

A lot of times it can be the cover of the book or the title.
I always pick the book up, read the flap description and then read a few paragraphs to decide.
If I like the style of writing and it connects with me in the first few paragraphs I get it.

that also happens to me but you i am a freak for anything that has to do with business be it online or offline and i guess you do make good selections by reading through the little preview at the back or the flap of the book

I like reading Christian books, aside from that this book Purpose-driven-life really is a must read, you would learn a lot from it. And you could apply what have you learned and realized reading the pages. It give us some inspiration too as to what to expect in our lives. It have done a lot of good things to me, one is to get more closer to God..And I think anyone would be so interested to get a copy of any book once it caught a lot of people's attention and good reviews.
