What company do you get your internet from? Do you use dial-up or cable internet, or another type? We still have dial up, and it is really slow. Are you satisfied with your provider? Do you prefer one type of internet over another?

We have a company called Embarq. They do our phone and internet both. We have DSL or broadband internet, I think they are the same thing, but I am not totally sure exectly. I am happy with the provider. Since we have the DSL thing we can hook our other pc on to the internet with a wireless box thingy. Also, we dont have to worry about our phone line being taken up while we are online either. We can be online and on the phone at the same time which comes in really handy since there are times that I'm online and my husband is using the phone. I would have to say I like the high speed internet such as DSL best. I remember when I lived at home with my parents they had dial-up and it really sucked. We could only get online when we knew nobody was going to call the house. Also, dial up could take awhile to connect and all that. With our DSL we are connected 24-7, no waiting to dial up and have the phone which can be used at any time as well. I must say that dial-up is pretty slow and not very fun to have to wait on either. Have you ever thought about getting a different internet provider. I know that At&t has a thing where you can get digital phone service for like 24.99 a month plus 19.99 a month for DSL. I guess it all depends on where you live at though. Some places are unable to use certain providers due to their location. Maybe you should check that out or ask your friends who have DSL what service they use and about how much they pay. (if the cost is something you are concerned about) OH I almost forgot, with the At&t phone it is also unlimited local and long distance calling and has some really great features. My husband and I have thought about getting it.

That sounds like a good idea. Can you ger the internet by itself from At&T?

I believe so, but I'm not totally sure. I do know that you get the low DSL internet from AT&T because you go with their phone service. I dont know anything more than that really. Sorry

I have dial up and can't wait for someone to get something faster out where we are. I would jump on it today if the cheapest I could get wasn't $80. Verizon has been telling me for over 4 years that they will soon have DSL for us but i still hasn't happened. Right in town I think they might and we keep getting junk mail saying it is here but it isn't in our part of the city. I wish they would save the trees and stop getting my hopes up by telling me it is here. I guess I am as satisfied as I can be with my dial up provider. Still wish I could get satalite.

We keep getting mail like that too. There are a lot of trees around here, so I don't think we'll ever get it.

I have alltel wireless internet. There is little box that plugs into the computer. Almost like a little itty bitty phone. It has it's own phone number and everything. The best part is that I can use it for my desktop and my laptop.

I am from Indonesia. Here we have many broadband Internet providers, which are much cheaper than dial-ups. But frankly, there are many providers with speeds slower than regular dial-ups, the only benefit is that you can stay connected 24 hours. Lately, there's a lot of 3G wireless internet providers, not 24 hours but has blazing speeds... I found out that it's only beneficial to heavy downloaders and not casual surfers. If you're looking for a 24 hours internet, stick to ground cables, but for faster speed, get FO (fiberoptics) or wireless.
