What side of the bed is best? L or R?

I have typically slept on the left side, even as a child sharing a bed with my sister. Isn't it funny how we end up on a certain side and stick with it? As it happens I am married to a right sider, but what happens I wonder when 2 people marry who are both accustomed to the same side of the bed???

Lol I have been considering this question.....how do you figure the side? As if you're standing at the end of the bed, or as if your laying in bed? Laying in bed I am on the right, standing at the foot,the left =)
