Are you planning to use WIndows Vista? How soon will you make the convert? and why? I myself still stick to XP, because I use an old computer... but I think it's still capable of running Vista. So I was kinda thinking, is Vista worth the conversion?

I'll stick to Windows XP for the moment. I don't see any reasons yet to migrate to Vista. First, it's very expensive and mostly eye candy at the moment, second, it uses NTFS, which is a pain in the @## to recover in case something goes wrong. More so if you're using an older computer. Using Vista could make your computer crawl... BTW, Vista's minimum RAM requirement is 512MB, but if you use Vista with 512MB of RAM, you'll soon wish you had 1GB. And even if you had 1GB, as soon as you try to do some multitasking on it, you'll wish you had 2GB of RAM. So, no reason for me to upgrade to Vista yet.

I have 1.5GBs of RAM, but my processor is only single core running @ 2.8GHz, so I wonder if Vista can 'work well' on it.. ^^ or do I have to upgrade first before I ever think of using Vista...

From what you've posted, I think Vista will work quite well, provided you don't do heavy multitasking on it. But I don't know about all the eye-candy, since you didn't post what video card you're using. But as long as it's DirectX 9.0c compliant and has proper Vista drivers (nVidia GeForce 6 Series and up, ATi Radeon X1300 Series and up), you should be able to enjoy Vista's Aero to the fullest.

well, if i am going to buy a new laptop, then I will definitely be using Vista. But with my current laptop and with the bad performance I had heard from it, I will not be upgrading my current OS. Besides, I also think Mac OS is way much better.

But if you want to use Mac OS then your system should be a Mac,shouldn't it? I also think Mac is a better option, performance and feature-wise, but my PC isn't a mac, and I think I can't play games in Mac as easy as in Windows.

I've been running windows vista for over a year now. I wouldn't suggest the program to anyone. I absolutely cannot stand it. I'm seriously considering buying XP and replacing Vista with it on this new computer.

I'm currently using windows vista which comes with my new notebook. It's not as effective as windows XP! Arghh... took me some time to get used to the some sort of new user interface for some functions. something good about it is it is able to auto detect either the software which you install is compatible or not and send you a solution to upgrade your system when they found it. Not recommended if you are using lotz of 3rd party softwares, as most are not ready yet.
