Do you know about a site on the internet called Freecycle, it is a site where if you have something and you want to get rid of it, (like a sofa, washer, etc) you got a new one and don't know what to do with the old one you freecycle it. You like it on the site as OFFER and describe what you have and if someone needs it they will email you and let you know they are interested in it. It is their responsiblity to come and get it and move it. We was relocated form the hurricane in 2005 and had nothing and by using this site we got a lot of nice stuff that people was wanting to get rid of. Just type in freecycle.com, then find your area that you live in and join. Got some interesting stuff people want to get rid of. it is a good site for people that are low income or can't afford to rush out and buy a new washer when their's break down. Also very interesting to watch what people offer and what people ask for. I think it is something when people ask for free, but inform you they don't want trash from a store like the Dollar Store, and to make sure it come from a high priced store. Can't be choosey when you getting it for free or can you?

Yes I have heard of Freecycle. I am actually a moderator of the group in my area. It is a wonderful concept and I am truly greatful that I have been given the opportunity to help others out and keep our landfills from growing to quickly. But I did want to point out that the main website is not freecycle.com. It is freecycle.org!

Oh it's not a problem. I figured that it would be best to let you know, so that way others who read this discussion get directed to the right spot. When I was new to freecycle, I thought it was .com also. Majority of website are usually .com websites, so immediately when someone is talking about a website it is natural for one to think it is a .com website.

yes I know about it, I just haven't used it yet because our freecycle in montreal makes you give something first before you get something, and I really don't have anything to give at the moment

Yes!! I use it all the time. I have given 2 refrigerators, a microwave, clothes, toys. I have received only a handful of items. It is a great site. There is a freecycle icon if you don't already have one : )
You are right. Beggars can't be choosers, but they try!

There are freecycle groups located all over the place and not just in the United States. So definitly check it out. You might be surprised to find one in your area. Go to freecycle.org and from there you can find all the different locations.

I love freecycle. I am the moderator for our local group. I have given away a piano, toys, clothing, household items, and much more. I have gotten a gas grill, yarn, clothes, exercise equipment, and who knows what else. Someone on our group even gave away a car!

I love freecycle. I got several phones and computer parts from it, as well as my beloved cat Richard (the best deal and a microwave.
