Since you said you are using only 800MHz PC, I'm assuming you are using an old operating system like Windows 98SE or Windows 2000...
It depends on what OS you are using. If you are using Windows 98SE, the maximum memory you can have is 386MB...And even then, for such an old system, the mainboard will be old and the RAM to use would be old as well...You probably won't find the RAM for your system, or it would be quite expensive..

Windows XP? I bet the system is running very sluggishly...
For Windows XP, you can upgrade to 1GB memory for better performance. But like I mentioned earlier, your mainboard that supports 800MHz PC is likely to be old and be using like DDR memory instead of DDR2 memory...
Its up to you though. If you can find memory for your system, that would surely be great. But like what others highlighted, you may want to upgrade the other hardware as its cheaper and allows your system to run faster...processor included of course..

Actually there's no way a PC that old would be running DDR memory. He's most likely running PC100 SDRAM. I know AMD didn't switch to DDR2 RAM until 2006 when they came out with Socket AM2. Intel switched to DDR2 maybe a year or two earlier, but it didn't exist in 2000. Either way it's highly unlikely that a computer from that year could be upgraded to 1GB. Every comp that I've seen from 2000 topped out at 512MB. The only exception were Macs who had a good lead on PCs back then and could upgrade to 1GB.

Your system is way too old to be upgraded like that. Your processing speed is actually very slow. Even the slowest processor you can possibly find today would be more than twice as fast as what you are using.
If you are very lucky, you might be able to upgrade to 512MB. I would need more information to tell you for sure, but most likely 512MB is your maximum and you would need PC100 RAM. Since that RAM is so outdated it may be difficult to find and rather expensive. Your best bet would be to buy it used on Ebay. Even with more RAM, such an old machine would not run much faster.I can't believe you are even running Windows XP on that machine. The absolute bare minimum for XP to even install is 64 and that's not enough to run all the most basic features. Seriously, if you're looking to spend money upgrading, it would be better spent on a new computer.
If you're that low on cash, here is the cheapest computer that's actually worth buying:

thanks for your comment, am using intel p3, processing speed is 800mhz, the RAM is 64MB, and the hard disk space is JUST 10gb, men am thinking of buying laptop with an intel duo core proceesor, but until then i want to upgrade this old system, just to add some speed to it, it damn slow for my programming works. i cant do my assigment and project like compiling a java program.

I think the most important for getting best performance is adding more RAM to your computers, processor isn't effect so much since computer program working with a lot of RAM. So 1GB is minimal amount for RAM.

Its too low,I reccomend to upgrade your CPU too to some 2.4GHz+ and RAM to 1GB+. Its not costly in my country, its cheap for that much. Even I'm looking for a 4.2 GHz processor now.
