I have a handful of aprons. I agree that their use makes sense and that it protects our clothes. But I can't, for the life of me, remember to use them when I start cooking LOL It's a good thing that I am not too messy when cooking, but still there is always something that finds it's way into my clothes, some flour dust, a spill from a sauce - specially tomato with those bubbles that burst:) - anything. I have finally applied a plastic hook close to the stove and hanged an apron there, to see if I remember it more with the visual cue:) Do you wear an apron when cooking, or even cleaning?

I don't wear aprons as I'm not used to it. Tried once and I feel uncomfortable in it.

I guess it's a matter of getting used to it. Probably that's the problem that makes me forget to use mine all the time:)

I'm very nostalgic arkaf. I have a whole drawer of them, some of which were my grandmother's. I keep the ones I wear hanging on a spot in the pantry and one hangs over the kitchen chair. Each time I put it on, I remember the people who not only taught me how to cook, but cook some wonderful meals on their own. My husband has one that is signed by every member of his family. He wears it when he grills outside. They are wonderful memory makers. I even wrote a cookbook, called, My Grandmother's Apron. I buy old ones at garage sales all the time.

Terilee I also have one that was from my grandma - who I never met - and many from my mom. MY trouble is remembering to put them on when I start cooking. It's great that they bring such good memories for you, and that is a very good point that had not occurred to me when I started this discussions. Maybe that is something that will remind me to wear them more often. I love the idea of the apron signed by everyone in the family:)

If you can, put a special little hook someplace near by. That way, you'll see it when you walk into the room, even if you don't put it on, you'll remember why it's there.

I dont have one apron. But I think I should get one because I usually get spagetti sauce on me when Im making my sauce.LOL And it doesnt come out that easy. I think thats a great idea hanging them where you can see them. I would have to do that too.

It's the only way for me to remember, and I can't even guarantee that I will remember all the time even though it's right there in front of my eyes LOL I have quite a few, but the truth is that I have used them maybe once or twice only, because I always forget. I'm hoping that from now on, I'll be getting some thank you notes from my clothes hehehe

We have aprons in our house but I'm not even sure where they are anymore. I don't wear one when I cook and no one else in my family does either. I don't really see the point in it. I don't care if I get messy. Besides, it's not that difficult not to get messy when you're cooking either as long as you watch what you are doing.

I am quite careful and things don't really get messy, but still there's always this or that spilling, splattering etc. I prefer not to have those on my clothes:) But then again I"m the one who never remembers to use the apron anyways LOL

Yep, I have 2 aprons. Depends on my mood, I will choose which one suited me, lol! I have a teddy bear and a red checkered design. For most of the day, I'm wearing civilian and not house clothes. The aprons are a life saver and the best companion I have in the kitchen. =)

I only wer one when my mother tells me to :P So after I bake I almost always have flour all over my clothes xD It's true that aprons helps you stay clean but in my kitchen it's hanged on the doors that usually stay open so I simply forget about it.

Yes, my problem is also always forgetting to use them. I do have plenty, so it's not a problem of not having one, it's just that I only remember after I made some small mess LOL

Hi, arkaf61. No. I don't wear an apron, but I could make use of wearing one though. I am not really messy in the kitchen either, but having on an apron is really useful for me, just in case,, you know. I need an apron for both cooking and cleaning purposes.

When I got married ( about 50 years ago) many aunts gave my aprons of all kinds. I was young and had just got out of school when I had to wear an apron over my uniform. Then, at home, my mom would make me chnge and use another kind of apron so I would not soil my clothes. I decided that not wearing aprons was part of the freedom I got when I married. I never wore an apron. I have a couple at home because my friends always help me when I invite them and some ask for an apron. But 50 years later, I will not be caught wearing one.

I don't wear exactly apron, because we were saree here, i wrap a cloth about 2 meters long and 1 meter wide, it protects my saree while cooking, plus there are rags ready always.. Thank you so much for sharing Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

For a while, I went on a baking spree. Occasionally, I'd get flour on me, so I got a couple of aprons to wear. But now, I hardly ever bake or cook, so I don't use the aprons often. Now, they might get used if my mother is dressed to leave the house, but wants to wash the dishes. So she'll put on the apron so water and soap won't get on her.
